SECRET: Someone wrote me recently and politely said I had to be the Internet's greatest overachiever.

He wondered, like many, where I got my energy to write so many books, e-books, articles, emails, and more, all while following my fitness program, doing consulting, running my mentoring program, etc.

How am I able to accomplish all this?

The first secret is that I follow my passion.

Any time you pursue what excites you, you will find yourself with a wonderful stream of energy to carry you through virtually anything. Joseph Campbell said, "Follow your bliss." I agree.

The second answer is that I stay clear.

That's a term from my book, "The Attractor Factor." It refers to keeping yourself clear of negative or limiting beliefs. Most of us stop ourselves from the very things we want -- unless you get clear. I talk about ways to do that in my book.

The third answer is that I do whatever it takes to keep my energy level balanced and up.

I'm happy to report that the new "patches" I'm wearing are giving me day-long smooth energy that keeps me going and going and going. I've tested them for over a month now. I definitely prefer the days I wear the patches to the days I don't.

One day I woke up, sore from the previous day's fitness training, and feeling lethargic. I stuck on the patches and within minutes I had three times the energy. I was moving, doing, and getting things done as never before.

* LESSON: While I'm waiting for BMW to deliver my new BMW 645ci luxury sports car, I've begun to study the history of the company.

"Driven," a book by David Kiley, is a terrific inside look at BMW, "The most admired car company in the world."

They weren't always admired, and they weren't always profitable. They've built some oddities, such as the 1955 "bubble car" called Isetta, and they built some cars just to capture a new market, such as the American assembled BMW Z3 (which is what I currently own).

While there's much to learn from reading this book about BMW, one lesson that leaped out is the whole notion of improving a model to keep the interest high in that particular series.

In other words, while many car companies create a new car, market it, and then move on to the next car, BMW instead creates a car, markets it, and then improves it and comes out with new versions of it over about a seven year period.

BMW may first release a four-door car. Then next year release the two-door version of the same car, only followed the next year by the convertible. This keeps the car alive and fresh in the mind of the consumer.

And this is where I often fall flat on my face.

I'm known for creating and releasing an ebook, and then forgetting about it. It will live or die on its own, without any further marketing from me.

BMW would say that's not very smart.

A wiser route would be to create and release an ebook, but then continously revise, update, and improve it, always marketing the new editions of it.

Or another approach would be to create and market an ebook, and then come out with different versions of the same material. Just re-package it.

Some people who want the e-book will want the audio version, or the printed version, or a course on the subject. Or all of it, in any form you offer it.

Enter a search term at http://mindset.research.yahoo.com/ and you'll see a choice: buying or information. Yahoo says they created this "Because sometimes you want to buy stuff, and sometimes you just want to find information."

Well, from a marketing standpoint, you should be sure to offer both: a direct sales piece for those eager to buy, and information that subtly offers a way to buy. Cover both avenues for the most possible sales.

This is basic old-school direct marketing (selling) combined with the net friendly Internet approach (information). But as I said way back in 1995, in one of the first books on Internet marketing ("CyberWriting"), both work online.

TIP: A "squeeze" site may grow your list faster than anything else. What is a squeeze site? It's a site that requires an email address to enter. One of the best I've seen is at http://www.adhdsecrets.com

INSPIRING: Nerissa and I went to see the new movie, "Cinderella Man." We loved it. If you think times are tough and you have it rough, see this Depression era flick and get back on your feet. In the 1930s the USA had soup lines, Hooverville in Central Park, and more than 15,000,000 unemployed. History can teach us that life moves in an upward path. And people like the hero in this movie teach us that we can survive anything. More than that, note that the world always needs a hero or heroine. Why not you? Why not be the next role model?

FANTASTIC: I'm not so much a fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger as I am fascinated by him. This fearless self-created multi-talented self- marketed celebrity is well worth study. HYPNOTIC: The most riveting book I've come across in six months or more is the autobiography of grumpy ole marketing wiz Dan Kennedy, called "Unfinished Business."

FAREWELL: By now you probably know that Internet legend Corey Rudl passed away in a tragic car racing accident on June 2nd. I did not know him, but respected his work. This is a great loss. Remember, live your life now, be an example to others, and keep your head up. One friend pointed out that Corey died doing what he loved. We should not feel sorry for him but happy for him. Corey did well. He is missed and will be, forever.

I must have received hundreds of emails from people touched by Corey's passing. Only one person sent anything negative, actually questioning whether Corey was a "legend" or not. There is no doubt Corey was an Internet pioneer who helped millions of people. In the history books, when they record the story of Internet marketing, he will be written about in glowing detail. Yes, he was a legend.
