How to Let Go

I received this email and liked it so much I asked permission to share it with you. It helps answer how to use the law of attraction to get what you want while still finding a way to let go and be detached of the outcome. Note: The program he refers to in his email is my audioprogram called The Missing Secret.

Dear Mr Vitale,
I recently had the good fortune to purchase to a selection of your material including “The Secret” and “The Missing Secret” and I have recently ordered some more of your material that I am looking forward to receiving any day now.
The reason for my email is with regard to something you said in “The Missing Secret” ‘How To Let Go’.  What you stated is contrary to what 99% of authors usually say about manifesting what we want.  ie; to focus all of our attention on what we want.
The reason for my email is because I have discovered that I can inadvertently manifest things into my life within a few days “IF” I dismiss the thought just as quickly as it entered my head and you are the first person EVER who has touched upon the phenomena in the Missing Secret.
I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard you describe this because I have NEVER been able to manifest anything into my life by dwelling on it for any length of time, despite what the books may tell us to do.  In fact, if a “stray thought” enters my head about a friend or a loved one becoming ill or dying, I find I MUST dwell on them and that thought to be sure that “My Thought” won’t manifest itself.
I realise that this must sound crazy, but I felt I needed to tell you as you are the first person I have ever heard describe the phenomena I experience.  Perhaps there are different ways of manifesting things into our lives.  My way is like a thought on superfast broadband and usually manifests itself within three days.
These thoughts usually occur whilst I am driving and concentrating on the road.  Within a split second a stray thought can enter my head and just as quickly I can dismiss it and forget about it.  Once I have forgotten about it it always occurs a few days later.  And, the funny thing is, that even though that thought lasted only a split second I can always recall exactly where I was when that thought entered my head!  I can’t explain the fact that I can “remember” where I was when I “forgot” a split second thought but I can always recall exactly where I was when that thought entered my head!!!
A few examples I can cite are:
1.  A couple of years ago my business and myself were struggling with life and I was bored and wanted some excitement in my life.  A split second thought entered my head (whilst I was driving) of being caught up in a robbery and saving the day.  Three days later, I was caught up in an armed robbery in my local Post Office.  No one was hurt and no one was ever caught for the robbery.
2.  A relative of mine has a flash expensive Range Rover Sport and uses it for work but won’t use it to help anyone else out.  At a recent family party he and his wife and their 3 children arrived squashed in his wife’s small car so that he could have a drink.  At the end of the evening as we were all leaving and as I watched him get into his wife’s car, I said to myself, “I hope your car gets written off.”  I said it and forgot it and three days later the brakes on a brand new van careered down a hill into the side of my relative’s Range Rover Sport.  It was a right off!  Luckily for me, no one was hurt but the Police did say if he hadn’t been driving his car he would have been dead!
3.  Since hearing you mention this phenomena I have begun to try and monitor my thoughts.  Obviously this is incredibly hard because if I think of winning the lottery for instance I can’t help myself from dwelling on the thought and almost immediately, I have sabotaged myself!  So, I tried to think of something obscure that I was not bothered about. “A blue Lego brick.”  This was something that I was able to dismiss and forget.  Four days later, one of my twin 8 year old daughters asked me to read her a bedtime story from a book she had been given at Christmas.  “Judy Moody – was in a mood. Not a good mood. A bad mood.” by Megan McDonald.  Page 40-41…I read, “The three of them studied the ground as they walked.  Judy found five pink pebbles and a Bazooka Joe comic with a fortune that read: MONEY IS COMING YOUR WAY.  Rocky found a blue lego and a stone with a hole in the middle – a lucky stone!”  I was dumb struck!

4.  I tried an equally obscure thought: This time it was a turtle.  A few days later whilst working at my desk, I glanced down at the clear plastic water bottle I had on my desk and the base of the bottle resembled a turtle with its head and legs all stuck out.  I realised that I needed to be more specific about what I thought about.
I have not taken this any further but I have found myself devouring books at an incredible rate since the beginning of the year after reading the Master Key and watching the Secret and listening to your Missing Secret.  I am now consuming books in days where once it would have taken me weeks to read through them.
I realise that I am only accepting or receiving thoughts rather than instigating them.  I have often been able to think of a TV programme or a film only to discover a few days later that it would be on TV.
Obviously, the TV schedules are planned weeks or months in advance, so I must have picked up on a vibration about these programmes from someone at the TV station… I guess!
I don’t believe that all of this is coincidence because in 1984 I accidentally tapped into this phenomena after splitting up with long time girlfriend.
Christmas Eve 1984 I sat down to watch on TV for the first time, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”  At the end of the film Jimmy Stewart’s character stands on the bridge and pleads to God, “Please God, let me live again.”  It was the most moving film I had ever watched.  I went to my bedroom and prayed with tears in my eyes and pain in my heart, just like Jimmy Stewart did.  Probably because of my sadness due to the breakup with my girlfriend (heightened emotion) my prayers were answered.  I began writing.  I was a graphic designer not a writer.
I had no desire or plan to write, I just began writing, and seven days later I had written a book called “THE QUIET QUEST FOR SUCCESS.”  Every word came to me one after the other.  Quotations I used came to me from books I had never even read but I knew exactly where to find them.  I felt as though the book was being dictated to me.
My book was well received by family and friends who insisted that I get it published.  I felt uneasy about this because I was not a success, I was far from a success.  I was a lowly paid graphic designer.  How could I tell people how to become a success when I wasn’t one myself.  However, I did send my manuscript to a few publishers and it was politely rejected by them all.  The book sat on a shelf in my bedroom and then ended up in a box and remained in the loft of my house when I moved here in 1987.
In 1986 I met my wife.  She took me to visit a village in the Peak District National Park here in the UK called Eyam.  Eyam is famous in the UK as the plague village because in the 1600s the local vicar isolated the village to stop the plague from spreading.  Whilst we were walking around the village with the old church, the village sign and ‘ye olde stocks’ I thought to myself, “I would love to live in a village like this” and dismissed the thought.
I lived in the heart of the steel city of Sheffield and I didn’t venture very far outside the city.  At night from my bedroom I could hear the trains running by and the boom boom of the forge hammers at the steel works, so this village was magical to me.
The following day, I cycled to one of my sisters’ homes.  When I got there a friend of hers (whom I had never heard of or met before) was visiting.  My sister had told her that my girlfriend and I were looking for a house and her friend said to me.  “We are selling our home, why don’t you come and have a look.”  They were selling it for £32,000 which in 1986 was way beyond our means, so I politely said I would get the details from their estate agent, but deep down I had no intention of doing so.
A few days later my sister’s friend phoned me and asked me if I was coming to look at her house.  I said I would get back to her once I had spoken to my girlfriend.  That week I went and got the sale details and discovered it was in a place outside Sheffield called Harthill.  I had lived in Sheffield all of my life and I had never heard of Harthill.  I looked for it on a map and it seemed miles away, the other side of the motorway.  To someone like myself who didn’t venture too far outside the city the other side of the motorway was like visiting another country!
We arranged to view the house and it was located in a pretty village, with an old church, a village sign etc., everything I had wished for in that split second whilst visiting the village of Eyam!  They sold us the house at the reduced rate of £29,950 and we have lived here for the last 23 years.  It is a quaint English village.
Over the years I had often thought about my book and digging it out and rewriting it or at least getting it on to the computer.  Although I had looked for it over the years, I had never been able to find it.  In October 2009, I purchased and read the Master Key and within a week of finishing reading it I found my manuscript 25 years after first writing it in a box only 12 inches from the loft opening!  I had never noticed it before now.
After I had written “THE QUIET QUEST FOR SUCCESS” I sat down on the floor of my bedroom with my head in my hands and prayed. Opposite my desk I had a large old TV.  As I raised my head, I noticed a reflection on the TV screen of a person sat at my desk with their arms outstretched.  It looked like the popular images we see of Jesus.  I immediately looked across at my desk to see no one sitting there, and when I looked back at the TV screen the reflection had also disappeared.  I can’t explain it and it is not something that I have mentioned outside of my family before.  It was uncanny.
5.  In 1985 I heard a song on the radio called “You’ll never find another love like mine.”  I didn’t know who sang it back then but I felt this was the ideal song to send to the girlfriend who had recently dumped me.  One day whilst on my lunch break, I came across an old record store that sold second hand records.  I had never seen the store before and I had never been in the building before, but that day, I walked into that store with the desire to find that record.  I walked straight in, walked to the back of the store flicked through the records and the first record I came across was; “You’ll never find another love like mine” by Lou Rawls.  I kept the record.
Between 1990 when I married my wife and now, life has been difficult with redundancy etc.  I have worked for myself for many years now (mainly as a writer) but I have never made any real money.  My wife and I were unable to have children of our own.  We tried IVF but it never worked for us, so in 2002 we chose to adopt and we adopted twin girls and they are everything and more to us.   Boy, do they put life into perspective!
However, before they came, I had turned my back on God (I was brought up a Catholic), my friends and my family and I suffered accordingly for it… I am only beginning to realise that now.  It has taken me 25 years to learn that lesson!   However, I now feel like I am being given another opportunity, so when I heard you describe “How To Let Go” I had an overwhelming urge to contact you.  I don’t know why I had to contact you but I am beginning to realise that I should no longer question what I am told to do, when I am told to do it.
Thank you for reading this far and for giving me hope and understanding…at last!
With grateful thanks!

Attracting ABC News

Last Thursday ABC News sent journalist Dan Harris to my home to interview me about everything from the movie The Secret to the Law of Attraction to James Ray to the entire self-help movement. Along the way we took a ride in my Rolls-Royce Phantom and talked about masterminding, attracting money now, and more. It was quite “the day.”

This was ABC News’ second visit. They were here in January to film the entire Rolls-Royce Phantom Mastermind with fitness celebrity Jennifer Nicole Lee.

Being filmed in a Rolls-Royce with a gorgeous fitness model at your side is a lot different than being interviewed by a sharp mainstream TV news reporter. TV journalists can be pushy and confrontational, and you never know what they’ll ask, all while a video camera is recording your every word and expression. These interviews are often called “firing lines” for a good reason.

Dan Harris is an exception. Oh, he asked the tough questions and he kept firing questions at me, but I could see he’s a caring man with a sincere curiosity about life and people. And I had of course Googled him before he arrived and knew he is passionate about indy music as well as journalism. I saw that he is an exceptional man with an amazing ability to ask questions under pressure. I liked him. Still do.

abcNews_Dan

Still, most of his questions came from a basic belief that money is bad. “You actually charge $5,000 for your Rolls-Royce Mastermind?” Yes, and I’ll be raising the price in March. “You sleep at night selling self-help books?” Of course. I’m helping people and offering solutions to their woes. “You help people to attract millions of dollars?” Actually, I help them to attract money now. “You’re OK marketing all the time?” I’m not marketing, I’m offering.

And so it went. It occurred to me later that I should have asked if ABC News charged their advertisers, and if they slept well knowing they were selling questionable drugs (with side effects such as possible death), etc. I also wondered if the interviewer got paid for sitting around and asking me questions. And doesn’t ABC News promote/market their upcoming TV shows all day long?

It’s so easy to be a critic.

The interview was from a Stage One perspective, as explained in The Awakening Course. It was all about “Who’s the victim?” and “Who’s to blame?” The other three stages of awakening, and certainly Zero Limits, could never be understood on this first level, where the interview took place.

The ABC News TV show will air in May, if not sooner. It’ll be an hour long special on positive thinking. They’ll have people against it (believe it or not) and they’ll have people for it (like me). They’re also interviewing Rev. Michael Beckwidth and Bob Proctor. On the nay side, they’ll talk with Bright-Sided author Barbara Ehremreich and Sham! author Steve Salerno.

You and I will have to wait to see how ABC edits the show. Meanwhile, I wanted to mention a brief moment Dan Harris and I had after the interview in my office.

Since Dan is deep into music (he’s also a drummer), I told him about my Alien Guitar. He asked to see some of the videos Nerissa and I created where I reveal the alien guitar to the person on camera but not to the camera/viewer. He laughed as he watched one of the clips. I offered to show the alien guitar to him while we filmed the moment but he said it might look like he was promoting it.

I then told him that my master strategy was to get a buzz going and then go on David Letterman to show and play the Alien Guitar. I told him I wanted to wait and get people really talking first.

“I wouldn’t wait,” Dan said. “I’d contact Letterman right now.”

“You would?”

“Sure. His show needs so much content that they’ll latch onto this right away.”

I paused as I considered his advice. Then something dawned on me.

I looked at Dan and said, “You know what you just did with me?”

Dan looked at me and asked, “Encourage you?”

“Yep. That’s what we do in the self-help movement.”

Dan nodded, letting it seep in.

“We listen for the latent desire already in a person and then encourage them to take action to make it real,” I explained. “Just like you did with me.”

I wish that moment had been filmed. It demonstrated what self-help and coaching is really all about.

Again, we won’t know what the entire ABC News show will be like until they edit it and air it in May. (Nerissa filmed the entire interview on her flip cam, so we can match their editing with what was actually recorded.) I think the show will be great. After all, I’m thinking positive.

As for now, I’m grateful to have met Dan Harris and attracted ABC News here. It could mean an appearance on David Letterman, with my alien guitar, will happen soon.

Joe

Attract Money Secrets

According to the results of a survey I just sent to my database, the number one thing people want to know is how to attract more money using the Law of Attraction. With that in mind, here are a few choice quotes to stimulate your thinking/attracting:

“The sole purpose of money is to express appreciation.” – Arnold Patent, Money

Think about it. When you write a check to pay a bill, do you grumble and complain, or do you feel grateful for whatever service you received? I admit for the longest time I would feel lousy when I paid my bills. Now I don’t. Per Patent’s insight, when you feel appreciation, you begin to attract more to appreciate. To attract money, appreciate money and what it brings you.

“Middle-class people talk about things that came from a millionaire’s idea.” – Keith Cameron Smith, The Top 10 Distinctions Between Millionaires and the Middle Class

I love that quote, too. It makes me stop and think. Whenever I find myself talking about some product or service I greatly admire  — such as a Bugatti Veyron super car worth over a million dollars — I stop and remind myself that it was just an idea. Someone created it. I’m now desiring it. But if you step back and look at the creative process, it was somebody with a dream, who took action, that got me and everyone else talking. To attract money, be the doer of what others talk about.

‘You have no idea what’s going on, but you’re in charge.” – Guy Monroe, Austin Vocal Lab

That quote might seem out of place in the world of attracting money, but consider: most of your life is directed by your unconscious. Ultimately, you have no idea what’s happening, or why. Yet in the midst of the seeming chaos is a captain who can steer the ship through the storm. That captain is you. When you declare where you want to go, you direct the ship, the crew, and the sail to go in that direction. This applies to money, too. Who’s in charge of your money, anyway?

“Prosperity allows us to turn our attention to more transcendent matters – to yearn for lives not just of material comfort but of meaning, balance, and joy.” – Gretchen Rubin, The Happiness Project

I love Gretchen’s book, The Happiness Project, and encourage you to read it. For now, her insight about money being a tool to elevate your thinking and desires is right on the money (no pun intended). When you think of money as bad or materialistic, you limit how much you can attract; but when you realize money is a symbol and a ticket to a higher state of being, you open the doors to attract all you’ll allow.

Just food for thought…

Ao Akua,

Joe

How to Attract a Better Future

Forget resolutions.

They’re usually based on magical thinking, wishful thinking, and lack any real commitment or plan.

We’re already weeks into the new year and you’ve probably already forgotten your resolutions.

Well, so has everyone else. Welcome to the club.

That’s why resolutions are for wimps.

A better choice is to attract your new reality with what I call Positive Predictions.

It’s a fun and creative exercise that allows you to visualize the future, contemplate unlimited possibilities, and actually begin to attract the new reality to you.

Of course, all too often individuals fixate on negative future predictions. 1984, Y2K and 2012, are just a few of the dates that come to mind. It seems there’s always an apocalyptic event looming on the horizon. Unfortunately, when these dates come and go without incident, they are quickly replaced by new, even more menacing predictions. Ho hum.

There’s a better way. Instead of imaging a doom and gloom scenario, let’s imagine a happy and prosperous one. Let’s make 2010 the year of Positive Predictions. For example, here’s a sampling of the Positive Predictions I’ve added to my list for 2010:

Buoyed largely by the creative ideas of marketers, inventors and entrepreneurs, the United States explodes out of the current recession by harnessing several new technologies. People experience prosperity again!

Alternative sources of energy and innovative automobile technologies begins to reach a level of critical mass, resulting in dramatically lower demand for fossil fuels. We exit 2010 at an average price of $1.90 per gallon of gas — and falling.

I climbed to the top of my 15 foot climbing rope with my arms only and it becomes an inspiring YouTube video.

My free book Attract Money Now is translated into every major language, is downloaded by tens of millions of people worldwide, and becomes a New York Times bestseller after a publisher pays me a huge seven-figure advance for the rights to it.

Operation Yes makes a major impact in ending homelessness in America.

I launched the first ever Billionaire Bugatti Mastermind.

The Attract Miracles Community reaches critical mass and transforms the planet with a single thought projected around the world – by thought alone.

I went on David Letterman, Jay Leno and Jon Stewart’s TV shows, showing my incredible Alien Guitar.

My hydrogen-gas super car, The Scorpion was delivered mid-year and got front page news across the world as the first truly sexy environmentally friendly muscle car. I love that car!

joe_scorpion smaller

As you can see, this exercise is exciting. You might also note the “predictions” are written as if they are after-the-fact reports. It’s based on a process I call “Nevillizing,” named after famed mystic Neville Goddard. I discuss the practice of “Nevillizing” your goals in both The Attractor Factor and more recently in Attract Money Now.

“Nevillizing your goal” is imagining or visualizing what life would be like if your goal were already achieved today. The objective is to make an emotional connection to your future. You pretend it has already happened. This allows your subconscious mind to believe it’s possible, as well as to program the Universe to bring that vision into your reality.

Neville himself said —

“There is only one cause, and that is consciousness. Your consciousness is the center from which your world mirrors and echoes the state you presently occupy.”

Consider the act of making a prediction. Generally, meaningful predictions require that you step out of your comfort zone and take a risk. I’m not talking about unimportant predictions that anyone can make. I’m talking about “worthy” predictions that make your subconscious mind take notice and say “Wow, this guy/gal isn’t fooling around!”

Contrast this to the standard practice of creating New Year’s resolutions. If you are like many individuals, you may write down a list of resolutions for the year. This ritual has become so routine that very little emotion if any permeates to the subconscious. Not to mention there’s virtually no personal accountability tied to the resolution.

Need proof?

You need look no further than your local health-club or gym. I’d be willing to wager that most are bursting at the seams with new members. Check back with these same clubs in July and you’ll notice that their attendance has dropped back to late 2009 levels.

Generally, resolutions are easy to forget or dismiss. However, Nevillized Positive Predictions have much stronger emotional ties and longevity. They will begin the process of attracting a new reality based on the Law of Attraction and the power of intention.

So here’s my personal challenge to you: Create a list of Positive Predictions. Do it today. Right now.

Have fun with it. Like mine, some can focus on world events. Others can be personal challenges that really stretch your boundaries. If you have already created a list of resolutions, you can easily convert them into predictions. Just remember to make them worthy. And be sure to write them as if they already happened. And record your excitement.

A great way to ensure that your Positive Predictions become a reality is through Mastermind Groups and Personal Coaching. Both can provide the necessary accountability, access to creative ideas, and insights to make your wildest predictions come true.

Here’s something most people don’t know:

Years ago I walked into my Mastermind Group at the time and stated that I wanted to be in a movie. Not just any movie, and not as some fly on the wall. I wanted a noteworthy part.

At the time I had no movie experience or connections. But I stated my goal and let my Mastermind Group support my intention with their good thoughts.

That’s it.

I didn’t try to get an acting job.

I didn’t send out resumes or sexy photos of myself.

I just waited, expecting my miracle, and ready to take action when inspiration or opportunity appeared.

Three months later a woman named Rhonda Byrne read my book, The Attractor Factor, and called me, asking if I’d like to be in her movie, called The Secret.

The rest, as they say, is history.

This is the power of Positive Predictions, Mastermind Groups, and Personal Coaching.

There are many excellent coaching programs available. Take for example, my Miracles Coaching program – we’ve helped hundreds of individuals both formulate and achieve their goals and predictions over the last four years.

The Joe Vitale Miracles Coaching will provide you with a personal coach that can help custom tailor a formula to achieve your goals. Also, you will have access to well over 100 courses and supporting curriculum. This is the perfect way to kick-start your 2010.

Or consider my Rolls-Royce Phantom Mastermind. This is an ideal venue if you’re interested in personalized brainstorming and strategizing as you ride in the lap of luxury. Many have found this to be the perfect catalyst for developing inspired ideas. (ABC News is covering the one I’m doing this Monday with Jennifer Nicole Lee.) Furthermore, the Phantom Mastermind may be a prerequisite for those wanting to attend the Billionaire Bugatti Mastermind. 🙂

Whatever you decide, remember to “Dare Something Worthy.”

Your future begins right now.

Ao Akua,

Joe

PS – Heads up: There’s just one seat remaining for my January 21st Phantom Mastermind. I predict that the individual that fills this slot will have an inspired 2010. Call my office for other dates in 2010 or just click right here.

"Got Spirit?"

Years ago I wrote a dissertation for my Doctorate in Metaphysical Science called “Got Spirit”? It was an in-depth study of the most popular metaphysical, new thought and new age movements and the marketing practices their founders used to establish them.

I wrote it because so many people seem to have a negative attitude toward money and marketing that I wanted to see for myself how the biggest and most famous spiritual movements got that way.

I suspected the greatest meta-physicians — from Jesus to Phineas Parker Quimby to Mary Baker Eddy to Ernest Holmes to Mother Teresa — were all comfortable with money and either did marketing or had someone do it for them.

It was an illuminating study. Turns out every one of these spiritual teachers and their movements knew the value of money and marketing. Each did everything from writing, speaking and advertising to publicity events to get attention and attract followers.

If that’s the case, then why do most metaphysical practitioners today — most people, period — dislike marketing and money?

The most obvious answer is they believe, “God will provide.”

That reminds me of the story of the man with a beautiful garden in his backyard.  One day a man walked by, saw it, and stopped to admire it.

“You have an amazing garden here,” the stranger said.

“Thank you,” said the owner.

“It’s really God’s garden, isn’t it?”

“Yes, it is,” replied the owner. “But you should have seen it when God had it all by Himself.”

phineasThe point is, God (or the Divine or Nature) provides us with the basics, and we have to do something with what we’ve been given. If we just allow things to grow in the backyard, we’ll have a jungle, not a garden. Someone has to tend to the earth. Even if we’ve been given (or learned) the talent to heal, we have to let people know we have it for us to be able to use it. In other words, we have to spread the word.

That’s marketing.

It’s no different than what Jesus, Phineas Parker Quimby (pictured above), Mary Baker Eddy, or even Mother Teresa did. If someone hadn’t helped them spread the word, we wouldn’t know of them today.

The success of Unity Church is a case in point. Charles and Myrtle Fillmore managed to raise all the money they needed to build and expand their business. It wasn’t until 1942 that the real secret of their financial support was revealed. The Fillmores had created a now famous “Dedication and Covenant” on December 7, 1892, that read:

“We, Charles Fillmore and Myrtle Fillmore, husband and wife, hereby dedicate our selves, our time, our money, all we have and all we expect to have, to the Spirit of Truth, and through it, to the Society of Silent Unity.

“It being understood and agreed that the said Spirit of Truth shall render unto us an equivalent for this dedication, in peace of mind, health of body, wisdom, understanding, love, life and an abundant supply of all things necessary to meet every want without our making any of these things the object of our existence.

“In the presence of the Conscious Mind of Christ Jesus, this 7th day of December, 1892 A.D.”

Please note that while the Fillmores signed an agreement with Spirit, they also wrote, published and distributed materials to market their message and their offerings. In short, they had to do both: Implement marketing and work with Spirit. I call it the phrase I coined: Spiritual Marketing. It could have easily been called Spiritual Money.

The point here is that money and marketing are not separate from Spirit at all. They are in fact Spirit.

When someone says, “I don’t care about money, I just want to follow Spirit,” they are revealing their own limitations about the reality of the world.

Money is Spirit.

Saying you aren’t interested in money, or marketing, is a form of self-delusion. You don’t need to be in love with money to appreciate it and attract it. When you realize it’s a tool of Spirit, you are in a position to create miracles.

Dr. Hew Len, my coauthor for the book Zero Limits, is clear that money is of Spirit. He uses the ho’oponopono practice to clean on everything, including any negativity around money. As a result, our book is a bestseller and I send him huge checks for half of everything that I ever receive from anything related to Zero Limits products. He simply receives.

When you have Spirit, you can have money.

They aren’t separate.

Got Spirit?

Joe
