cigar-humidor-by-arlin-liss.jpg A few months ago I wrote about an old world craftsman by the name of Arlin Liss who hand makes unique cigar humidors. I was so taken by his work that I hired him. The above picture is of the cigar humidor he just completed for me.

I’ve called Arlin Liss the Michelangelo of cigar humidor makers.

I saw Michelangelo’s Pieta’ — considered the greatest sculpture in history — in Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican in Rome, Italy.

It’s breathtaking.

I’ve also seen Michelangelo’s David in Florence, Italy.

It’s astonishing.

But I think Arlin Liss is just as good.

Okay, maybe I’m waxing poetic here, but you get the idea.

Arlin is a master craftsman, an artist with wood, who loves what he does and infuses his work with that love.

Consider: Are you doing what you love, with passion and skill, so others see an artist at work?

If not, why not?

Joe

    hi joe,
i wanted to let you know that you were the one person i connected to in the secret.
iam reading zero limits for the third time. it is amazing how i can see my life turning around. i have had two resteraunts and three hair salons and have done very well with all of them until the last hair salon. divorce caused me to loose everything.iam now in the process of buying a party store where i plan on adding a deli and pizza. i have no money to put down on this business. some people would look at this business deal as impossible, but i know that the divine looks at it as my time to have everything that was taken from me. thank you joe for everything that you have taught me. i will always be greatfull. and i also smoke one cigar in the evening as iam relaxing and reflecting on my life.
    peace be with you joe

Hi – Joe, I sent you an email about a week or more ago to work with you and never heard back. Any thoughts?

  5. September 17, 2007 at 7:57 am

Louise, I never received your email. My assistant reviews all that come in. You might try writing to me again, but be sure you use the correct email addy. At the beginning and end of every blog post, you’ll find it there. Also, I am not looking for new businesses. I am overstretched as it is. I also can’t respond to everyone who writes to me. It’s just not possible anymore. Just FYI.

    Joe,

Wonderful looking humidor just in time for the “Cigar Smoking Season” here in Texas! I’ve been re-working through the “Attractor Factor” and recently won an auction for my favorite cigars (See more at my website http://www.sampalazzolo.com…You won’t believe what else I’ve been attracting…But then again, yes you will believe it!).

Thanks for all you do for me and my family…When we met in Austin last month I was certain that I was on the right path towards helping people achieve there dreams. You instilled the confidence in me that I was so desperately seeking. Now that I’ve found it, the sky’s the limit (Instead of the limit being the sky!).

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I am doing what I love and it feels awesome.

After a lifetime of sustaining myself in jobs that I didn’t really like, it feels great to finally be doing what I love – writing, inspiring people, talking about God, and following my passion.

    Thanks Joe.

    Love, lisa

    Gee Joe,

It seems like all you talk about is your expensive stuff! Your one of a kind this, expensive that. Your fancy car, guitars, the dream home you’re going to buy, your hot tub. I’ve never heard Bill Gates talk about all his fabulous STUFF! Is that all it’s about for you? It sure sounds like it. You’re either plugging your books or bragging about your stuff.

  10. September 19, 2007 at 5:19 am

Hi Anne. I saw Bill Gates interviewed the other night and they (and he) highlighted his fortune, expensive buildings, home, and more. It didn’t bother me at all. I found it inspiring.

Besides my “stuff”, I also talk about donating $15,000 for a machine to help a child who had a stroke, a child I don’t even know. Interesting that you overlooked that.

If reading my blog pushes your buttons, you might either stop reading it or un-wire the buttons. Either way, I wish you health and happiness.

    Blessings,
    joe

    Hi Joe.

This post certainly struck a chord with me, as a chap born in 1950 and having been a plasterer since leaving school, I too get that ‘love-buzz’ from acheiving perfection with my hands and a few basic tools.

The ‘Buzz’ you get when your clients tell you how amazing it is to watch, and when they run their fingers over the finished surface with wonderment and the usual; “it’s just like velvet”.

You’d think it would become tiresome but it doesn’t. It just reinforces the love you have for your god-given ability and keeps you grounded and contented.

Having said that. When it’s taken away from you through ill-health, it’s a very difficult battle to find something else to fill the void.

    Any suggestions?

    Pete.

OMG Joe! It’s gorgeous! just exquisite! 😯 The burled wood is incredible…you are right – this is a masterpiece! Arlin Liss certainly knows how to work with and enhance the natural beauty of the wood – tears literally come to my eyes looking at the blown up picture of this crafted piece of art.

It is art, not just a humidor. I guess you could call it “functional art”.

Enjoy it! I hope it’s prominently displayed!

Much Love and Gratitude for all the Love you Give!

    Amy

PS.. ILY and am VERY Grateful for YOU! 😀

Robert, it’s not for sale, and I wouldn’t part with it for less than fifty grand.
