Years ago I was going to coauthor a book called The Red Flags Theory.

It’s the theory that as you go through life, there are signs to go forward, pause, or even stop and retreat.

They are a little like center lane bumps on the highway telling you to get back into your lane.

I call them green, yellow and red flags.

The key is to pay attention to the clues, or flags, and act on them.

When you do, life seems to flow at a smooth rate. When you don’t, you hit jolting bumps, scary rapids and/or unforgiving walls.

I was telling some friends about my red flags theory over lunch. One of them had gotten himself into a tangled business relationship. As I explained that before he got into the tangle there were probably yellow flags to alert him of problems ahead, he asked for an example.

I remembered that decades ago I took on a client that ended up being a nightmare. I finally had to fire him, return his money, and wish him well. It was a very unpleasant experience.

When I reflected on why I signed on with him in the first place, I realized that there were yellow flags on the field from the first day I met him but I didn’t pay full attention to them.

Those yellow flags were things like an uncomfortable feeling in the stomach; noticing an odd statement or odd behavior; feeling a tiny shudder when he said something about someone else that seemed negative or inappropriate.

I didn’t pay close attention to those yellow flags because this client was paying me a great deal of money, and I needed it (or thought I did) at the time.

So I let the promise of big money help me ignore or rationalize the warning flags.

But yellow flags turn into red flags if you don’t do something about them. Ultimately I had to end my relationship with that client.

As I told this story to my friends, they nodded. They realized there were hints, clues and “flags” all along the way, in every relationship, coming in every moment.

The point is to awaken, be responsible, and act on them.

A yellow flag doesn’t mean stop; it means explore the caution. If you can’t resolve it or shake it, you might have to get out of that game.

Here’s another example:

Donny Deutsch recently interviewed Donald Trump on his CNBC show, The Big Idea. In it The Donald said he once got the flu when he was about to close a deal to buy a newspaper.

Donald explained that he never gets sick, but he got terribly sick on the day of the deal. He took it as a sign not to go through with it.

As it turned out, it was the right decision. Being a newspaper publisher is not The Donald; being a real estate tycoon is.

The flu was a red flag to stop.

I have no idea if Donald Trump received yellow flags before the day of the deal, but I bet he did. You don’t get a red flag unless you’ve ignored all the yellow ones.

And that’s the point: Be alert to the yellow flags.

Of course, green flags are the good signs that say this is the way to go. But if you don’t act, you may get yellow and then red flags on those deals, as well.

Often I won’t get a green flag (or any flag) until after I’ve taken action.

This is a little like being at a football game. There’s no reason to toss a flag on the field before the game begins. But once it starts, look for the flags.

Same in life. I’ve often begun something because it felt right. After I took action, the game is afoot. From that point on I have to pay attention, and act, on all signs.

Also, as new information becomes available and relationships grow, new flags may also appear. Life isn’t static. The game isn’t over. This is why you have to stay awake in every moment.

As I’ve said here, there, and even on Larry King’s TV show, the great goal of life is to awaken.

Flags help you tune in to this moment; and this moment is all there is.

Here’s one final example:

Since I’m travelling more these days, I decided to get a laptop connect card so I could use my laptop virtually anywhere to connect to the Internet.

I went to my current phone service provider but he couldn’t determine what card I needed for my particular laptop.

Yellow flag.

I told him I would return with my laptop in hand so he could look at it and give me the right connect card.

I returned, he took one look, and said he didn’t have the card I needed, even though my card is a standard one and should be in stock.

Yellow flag.

He went on to say I would have to go to a larger city, probably Austin or San Antonio, to get the card I wanted. Since I had no plans to go to either city, and needed the card today for a trip I’m making tomorrow, I passed on his suggestion.

Note that these yellow flags don’t mean I shouldn’t get a laptop connect card; they simply mean (so far) not to get one with my current phone service provider.

I sat in the car and made a few phone calls to local stores of competing phone service providers, seeing who had the card I needed. After three calls (notice I’m taking action) I found a friendly woman who assured me she had the card in stock.

Green flag.

She told me her name is Chelsea, which is the name of one of our cats.

Green flag.

I went over to her store, went inside, and was greeted by the friendliest staff.

Green flag.

No waiting. No hassles. No deposit, or card fees, or much else.

Green flags.

And while I was there, one of my favorite waitresses of all time breezed into the store, saw me, and rushed over to give me a hug.

Green flag.

I now have the Internet connect card I need and I feel great about the experience.

Mission accomplished.

I still don’t know if I’ll ever write a book about my red flags theory*, but I’m hoping this blog post helps you remember that there are clues in every moment telling you if you’re on course.

Pay attention.

And act.

Joe

You have been tagged for The Personal Development List. (See my site for details), I would love for you to participate.

    Joe,
You are FULL OF SURPRISES! I can’t believe this. i got a FedEx package today from you!! I am over here laughing. I couldn’t believe it. I read Attractor Factor last week and now I am attracting books from Joe Vitale! What an amazing universe. You cannot even begin to imagine my joy over here! haha. I swear, I’ve been transformed into a 5-year old on Christmas morning. ZERO LIMITS. Thank you Joe. Love, lisa
the next thing I want to attract is to be THE WORLD’S MOST POSITIVE PERSON. I found this on your blog too, in the comment section. I find all sorts of cool stuff here. When I told my husband about the most person person in the world contest, he thought about it, then said, “you probably are”.

I’m going to attract a big huge beautiful house before Christmas.

    You are so awesome Joe.

    Love, lisa

Joe. Wow. I mean, really. Wow. Zero Limits is the most unbelievable book I have ever
read in my life. It is DIVINE PROVIDENCE that you sent it to me.

Attractor Factor is good, but this, wow.

This is the next step for me. Actually this is the next step for the world.
I am only on page 9, and I can’t believe this.

I’ve read a lot of books, but nothing like this.

I hate marking up books with pens, but i feel like I want to highlight and underline every sentence (but I probably wont, because it’s such a beautiful book)

I was only on page 1, and was speechless – the whole
bit about realizing that creative visualization &
intention doesn’t work. That is amazing. And the whole
idea that they are toys that make you think you are
    in charge!!!!!!!!!!!!

I almost fell out of my seat! This is unbelievable
stuff. Somewhere I always knew that I didn’t have to
tell God (or myself, through intentions) any of my
needs. I always knew that I was part of a larger plan for God, and that whatever I need that HIS PLAN be fulfilled, it will be given to me.

And the part about LOVE neutralizing emotions! Then
LOVE clearing out emotions to make an empty space,
    then LOVE filling you up.

    I’m only on page 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    hahahahahahah. GREAT STUFF.

This is the next wave. This is where it gets really
exciting. Where people put away their wish lists,
their to-do lists and their toys and start going to
that place of ZERO LIMITS where there is only 100%
    responsibility.

i also love the part about therapists never realize
that every time a problem arises, it is 100% while
they are present!!! hahahahahahhahahah. good stuff. So
true. HA. I laughed out loud.

    Thanks Joe.

    I love you.

I think a book about your Red Flag theory would do very well. Actually…LOL….I think just about anything you write, at this point, will do well. Go with the flow, Joe! Your idea is a service for good, so, that alone, spells success. If this idea keeps coming up for you, that is another green flag, right? The very fact that you have written about it here is a green light. I can think of many people who would benefit from the book. If you write it, I’ll buy it and pass it along to others, as always. (Since we are you, I think you are telling yourself to write this book, right?) Love to all! God Bless–Jodi

“Flag Theory” really rings true. I think it’s one of the ways the universe
tells you things. And if you ignore the red flags, you soon get to the
blaring claxons and flashing/spinning red emergency lights. Looking back,
I think I’ve even been guilty of ignoring those…

    Joe

Always enjoy your writings (even those with which I don’t completely agree). Today’s thoughts on on red flags matches my experience 100%.

Went through first 50 years of my life largely oblivious to flags. Now I see them much better. And, thus live much better.

Kind of like the sign “Pothole ahead, slow down.”

    Hi Joe,

Your Red Flag Theory is an interestng concept for sure, and would make an excellent book. The book would definately help people and make it easier to identify these “flags” that the Universe so eloquently provides, but most of us seem to miss.

  18. August 29, 2007 at 8:48 am

    Hi Joe,

Yes, I do believe you should write more on this. The universe always knows to give us the answer. Just last night a red flag got thrown in my life. I did see the yellow flags ahead of time. I was aware of them the first week I was part of a game of a group of people. I consciously made a choice to stay due to money and other situations. i was only in it a month and I was walking on egg shells to stay in it. It was doing work I love so that helped me to stay but I knew I wouldn’t be there long. I am getting ready to host my own radio program (I would love you to be apart it) on Sept 8th. I asked the universe and my guides to help with this other situation before the radio program. I felt that I would have to promote this other sitiuation on my show because I was a apart of it and I knew they demanded it. But, I didn’t feel comfortable about promoting them even when I was apart of this group. Last night the universe took care of everything and I am not apart of this group anymore. I feel great about this and not feeling that I have to promote something I don’t believe in. I am not even scared about the money.
i truly hope you write more on this subject. Like what do you do when you do see the signs but you stay becasue of other situations. Staying becasue of money to support your family and loving your work and helping others.

    Much love to you
    Carol

YES, I can definitely see a book on red flags, green flags. A book with different people’s experiences would be wonderful. I’ve learned over the years that the body never lies, so I pay more attention when I get those little ‘oh-ohs.’ They are happening more and more frequently, or maybe I’m just more aware of them. The concept of red flags, green flags is very clear, too. CLARITY IS A MUST! according to Hooponopono.

  20. August 29, 2007 at 8:50 am

Yes, Joe, write the book! Reminds me of the behavior mod system in my son’s Kindergarten class. Green is good, Yellow not so good, Red, he gets all priveleges suspended! (There is also a Blue…..we just won’t go there!) Great post, Joe, thanks for reminding us about caution!

  21. August 29, 2007 at 8:57 am

    Dear Joe!
Absolutely true. Elizabeth and I went through the same experience. The trap is when you are in need ( of money, i.e. ) In comes a client with a big sign saying ‘trouble’ right above his head. Then he tells you how happy he is to have found you. At the same time he talks bad about his previous business partners. But you need? the money and say to yourself: I will make it, it will be alright.
Maybe you get the money you imagined, but you will pay for it with your time and stress. And in the end you may find, that this person talks negative about you just as he did with his previous partners.
It’s true, it is all about fear. Without fear it is possible to not accept this client and a better one is already waiting…..

    Take care;

    Peter

Flag theory!!! Excellent. it took me a LONG, LONG time to understand the language of the universe….In the end I realized…
“God, was ALWAYS talking…it just was me that was not listening”
(please no one freak out because I wrote the G.O.D word…think of it as an acronym for Good Orderly Direction)
The Green ,Yellow and Red lights or flags or however anyone chooses to interprete these subtle messages are always there for each and everyone of us to utilize withing our own lives…
Discovering the “HOW” of the universal language is often the stumbling block. I used to believe it was bad uck or misfortoune when the “red” signals sent me straight into chaos…only to FINALLY understand that the universe will speak only in the language one can comprehend…for me it used to be3 a place of physical pain that was often the FLASHING red light to just STOP.
Today now it’s lessened to not so much physical as an emotional indicator of…mmmmmhhhhh this makes me FEEL uncomfortable..maybe it’s not such a good idea.
    Write a book…write a book…yeah yeah yeah

I don’t see the green flag replacements as you did with your computer card. So when you say, “* Guess I’m waiting for a green flag. 🙂 Note to me: Waiting is not how a game begins.”, that is more interesting to me.

    Waiting (or not waiting).

Interesting….I noticed that you received yellow flags at your phone service provider but
you moved on to pursue the issue anyway with another provider. I would have stopped after the first yellow flag and probably Interpreted it to mean that it was a red flag and
I was not suppose to have a card for my computer. I think the secret is interpreting the
flags correctly which we do not always do. I see a conflict in the theory in knowing when to see issues as a red flag and stop…. and the determination of pushing through something that is hard and difficult to see success at the other end…The Never Give Up Attitude. Look at Jack Canfield who went to publisher after publisher to get Chicken Soup published. Red and yellow flags all over the place but he pushed through. Now if had not worked out for him, he could have said, “I should have paid more attention to the yellow and red flags. Since it did work out for him… he can easily have said the opposite Easy to theory to talk about but easier said than done. I think you have
to be pretty “clear” or your mind can sabatage. Funny how we can always see the flags
    in hindsite…green, yellow, or red.

    Thanks.

    Hi Joe,
An enthusiastic ‘would love to read it’ from one of your American fans living in Australia. It’s 1.15am in the morning here and I’m up losing sleep over a client that has given me ‘yellow flags’ since the first time I spoke with them. In the middle of deliberating whether to ‘press on’ or ‘move on’ – in pops your email on the red flags theory! Amazing! Although I’m a successful marketing writer (albeit a little new to direct response copywriting, which their project entailed) the client really had me doubting my skills. I know now I’ll move on – and perhaps hone my abilities in this particular writing area somewhere else.

Sometimes you hear people say that difficulties are just the universe challenging your commitment to something. I think a lot of people struggle with the concept of persisting or letting go – so it would be great to see your take on ‘challenges’ vs. true ‘red flags’ if you decide to write the book.

    Phew! Going to sleep now.

    Warm regards,

    Hi Joe,

Just want to lyk that I “digg” this post 🙂 (but don’t have a digg acct to be able to add my vote LOL). The subject indeed is fascinating.

Just like one movie said: “there are signs everywhere”. Maybe there are. But then what about someone like Jack Canfield trying to sell his “Chicken Soup for the Soul” book and getting rejected by everyone. What if he would have taken that as a sign and said: “I think this is not meant to be… too many yellow flags..”? So how do you decide when to keep going and when to honor the signs and try something else? Very interesting.. Would love to see a book on this 😉

    cheers,

BRAVO, Joe! The thing I liked most about this article is that you made the distinction between something being “challenging” and something being an act you shouldn’t do. Specifically, when you ran into challenges in getting an internet card…you didn’t take it as a sign that you SHOULD NOT get an internet card. Just that you shouldn’t get one from your current provider.

I love that. Because I see a lot of people in life who look at every detour, hurdle or speed-bump as a “sign” that they’re not supposed to do something. And sometimes that’s true. Maybe Donald was right that getting the flu was a sign not to buy the newspaper. Or, it could’ve been a sign that he needs to use some anti-bacterial lotion after shaking hands with people! Only Donald can decide. 🙂

So — THANK YOU — Joe, for making the distinction that there is a big difference between a challenge and a red flag.

    I appreciate you!

Yes! I’d love to read a book on this topic because I try to pay attention to these yellow and red flags as well. And the fear thing really confuses me because sometimes I see yellow flags (maybe even orange) but I know that sometimes I give up too quickly, so I stick with it for a bit.

Joe, if you write this book, please include plenty of information on recognizing the difference between being a big chicken and actually noticing yellow flags. Sometimes the line is clear, but it can often be blurred and confusing, especially if you’re someone who acts out of fear or just experiences a lot of fear and anxiety.

Yes, yes, yes…when I teach I use those words:green, yellow and red flags. Hi Joe,
What a terrific article. I had never thought of our Intuition in terms of “Red, Yellow and Green Flags”. That is a great concept.

I have found this has happened more and more to me, especially as I have started to build my online business.

I’ll suddenly get a hunch to visit a forum I have not been to for a while and there, staring me in the face, is an opportunity.

I am part of Pat O’Bryan’s Portable and that has happened a couple of times. On one occasion, a lady was asking for a bonus product for her product and one of my products was a perfect match.

On another occasion, Pat was asking for contributors to his First Dollar Online book.

I had learnt now to distinguish the feelings associated with the “red flags” and “the green flags” and they are completely different.

Often I have found, if something really is not for my highest good, the Universe will step in and I will get ill or not be able to contact someone.

How would I go about getting permission to reproduce this article on my site- http://www.getyourdreamlife.com? I have just released an ebook called “Develop Your Intuition in Business” and I would love to link to this article or reproduce it on my site.

If you do produce the “Flags” book, I would love to read that.
    Thanks for a great post.

    Hi Joe,

As a longtime therapist and writer, I have read and enjoyed many of your books. Your flag theory absolutely resonates for me.

Here’s another use of red flags I discovered many decades ago when I was a young junior high school teacher.

My students complained that most of the time I was quite lenient with them and we had a good time together but that sometimes, for no apparent reason, I got angry and gave them extra homework.

I explained that sometimes I was just in a bad mood (read PMS) or under stress. Those were the times that I responded badly when they acted up. I told them that if they treated me especially nicely at those times things would probably be okay.

We decided to use a small red flag as a signal. If I noticed that I felt stressed I agree to pin the red flag to my clothing. If they noticed that I seemed stressed or just in a bad mood they were free to tell me to pin on the red flag.

Whenever I was wearing the flag they were nice to me and I was nice to them. I like to think that in some small way I taught them to notice and respond to subtle changes in other people as well as teaching them science and math.

Thanks so much for all you contribute.

    Warmly, Laurie Weiss http://www.idontneedtherapy.com/blog

    Hi Joe,

You have truly become one of my favorite authors of all times, I loved you in The Secret and I love you even more now that I’ve read more of your works. Until you mentioned it in your blog, I never really thought about the green and yellow flags, only the red. I think a book on this subject would be a blessing to all who read it. Just as the Attractor Factor, which I’ve read, and Zero Limits, which I’m reading now.

I thank you for the blessings and hope that you have created in your books and the difference they are making in my life…

    Joe,
In the game called Life, there are always signs (flags), many of which we tend to ignore. (Hind-site is 20/20 vision!) Awareness would be the key to help folks recognize when we’re being given a sign. The chapters of your upcoming book/seminar, “Life’s Game Flags!” might contain topics on Career Advancement, Education, Relationships, Decision-Making, Problem-Solving, Negotiating, etc.

Unless you’ve encountered yellow flags, keep running for the end-zone. Your audience is cheering you on!

Loved the article on “Flags” even though it made me a little angry… at myself. I believe we all have ignored what could be termed “obvious” flags in life experiences.

I would like to see a book or course on recognizing flags perhaps tied in with the NLP signals to watch for in respects to them. Just talking about the existence of flags helped me to some extent but learning the NLP “body language” and the “auditory” aspects of those flags would make such a book or course invaluable. Maybe I would title it “The Invisible Referee” LOL.

Joe, I discovered The Attractor Factor earlier this summer and it has changed my life. I’m now on a path to attracting everything I’ve dreamed of and actually inspiring positive change in some of my friends. Your Flag Theory rings true—I thought about seemingly mundane events that occurred around me yesterday and I can clearly see the flags now.

My question is, how does this theory apply to matters of the heart? You say a yellow flag doesn’t necessarily mean stop—and some of the yellow flags I’ve encountered lately have turned to green flags once I’ve asked the person for clarification on the yellow flag subjects or comments. But how might one work with Flag Theory in personal relationships? Any thoughts?

Here is my story, I am a runner and I remember the day when I had planned to run a 5k. On the morning of the race I overslept (Red Flag), then I could’t find my favorite pair of running shorts (Red Flag). On the way to the race someonw ran a stop sign and almost hit me (Red Flag), I got there just enough time to run to the starting line, with no time to warmup. I noticed I had a slight pain in my side (Red Flag). The horn sounded and as I started a nearly tripped over someone else (Red Flag). I went on to finish the race at my BEST TIME ever. Be careful some red flags are only in your head, not your heart.

As I was reading your blog I immediately saw in my mind a trail of yellow (even orange!) flags on the pathways of two major “problems” that I have created in my life.

Yeap. There they were. The Universe did its bit. But I ignored them, as just like you – I WANTED something from those people which I thought I needed at that time. The wanting was stronger than the warning.

I’d also love a book on this topic, especially if it also has suggestions for unblocking when life becomes- as one writer above put it- ‘yellow flag city’. Exercises for really ‘getting out of the square’ when life seems stalled, on sitting in ‘observer mode’ with the flags for awhile rather than doing, doing, doing (which is what I was doing, only to get more flags and blocks): these sorts of helpful guides would truly be excellent. Sometimes, what some can interpret as an inability to ‘work’ the LOA actually turns out to be a telegram from the Universe with ‘um, you’re going the wrong way’ neatly printed on it. 🙂 Or so I’ve personally found.

    I dig it!
My company provides in home care for Seniors. In June I had my first work comp claim in 12 years. A great record, but it still made me mad. To that date we had beaten the odds and still have beaten the odds with only 1 claim. We still have had no liabitlity insurance claims or litigation in 12 years, a small miracle. Work comp claim = red flag. Decided to find the good in it = turn it into a green flag. Began looking at the 1 claim as a blessing. Started documenting all of my risk reduction techniques and creating a risk management program for other providers. Took the program to an friend in the insurance biz…long story short, Lloyd’s of London now recognizes my risk management program and will provide rate reductions to those who take it. In just 90 days it went from red flag with a work comp claim to working with the world’s largest insurer, all by “changing” the color of the flag by seeing the blessing in it.

    Joe,

You’ve touched on something profound that almost anyyone can relate to. A book about ‘flags theory’ would do extremely well in the market. It’s a terrific idea. (I’d be thrilled to help you write it if you need help!) We’ve all received intuitive guidance from inspiration / the Divine in the form of ‘yellow,’ ‘red’ and ‘green’ flags. Sometimes we pay attention (to our benefit), and many times we don’t (to our chagrin). I’d bet that if you asked your readers to submit stories about their personal experiences with this, the book would write itself. Best, D

As for a new book on the Red Flag Theory, do it! I’m sure you’ve cleared on this already and know the answer, but I would also like to add my encouragement. As Dr. Hew Len assured you, all of your books have their place for someone. That is just another topic that will help our world and shape our reality.
Keep up the good GOOD work you do. And if you ever need another pair of eyes to review your work, I would be honored to offer my assistance.

    Hello Dr. Vitale,

    Fantastic post!

Love your red flags theory! You’ve just given me an aHa! moment.

To me, every situation that presents itself in my life is a door… I used to see a door and think: Wow! It’s a sign! That’s my door! And I would wholeheartedly jump in with my eyes wide shut. Big mistake! I got myself into all kinds of situations with various degrees of unpleasantness because I chose to ignore the big yellow flags that were partially blocking the door.

I’m older and wiser now… I’ve seen the flags and I know the signs. Thanks for reminding me it’s important to turn down what’s behind door number one if it doesn’t feel right. (You are the second person to remind me of that in the last 2 weeks.)

And thanks for the nudge about staying awake and trusting my instincts.

Oh! And for your book idea… can you see me waving my green flag?

I was just out enrolling my son in pre-school, and as I was making my way to the pre-school I had chosen, I felt pulled to my second choice school. I had no idea why and ignored it (yellow flag). I got to my chosen pre-school, and walked straight in (yellow flag) and found no-one to greet me for some minutes (yellow flag). I walked into the children’s area and still none of the carers spoke to me (yellow flag). Eventually someone came out and said she had been eating lunch (yellow flag). I then found out there would be a ballot system, and that my son might not get in there (yellow flag). She suggested I enrol in a back up school, just in case. (Lots of yellow flags there.)
I then went to my second choice pre-school. The gate was locked and so I buzzed for attention (a good start, as I don’t want just anyone coming in my son’s school). A staff member quickly opened the gate and accompanied me to the person I needed to see. She was very friendly and answered all my questions well; the school was clean; the play area was lovely; the children were happy and sitting down for a “picnic”, and the room was being setup for a Father’s Day breakfast the next morning 🙂 I felt very positive about the experience. Lots of green flags! And so now I think I have a new first choice of pre-school! 🙂

Getting home and reading your blog felt like synchronicity at its best! It’s confirmed my intuition and helped to make my decision easier. Thank you!

Hello Joe – To be honest I receive your blogs but rarely seem to have the time to look at them but today your red flag theory caught my eye. Possibly because (it is early morning in the UK) I had a very vivid dream last night about losing a new handbag which was red (don’t have a red bag). After a lot of soul searching, today is the day when I speak to someone about closing my business. I believe this is the right thing to do but the ‘red bag’ together with the ‘red flag’ theory made me wonder if I am doing the right thing, although for my health and the need for a new buzz I know it is essential. Anyway as I was reading your theory I looked out of my window onto a short country lane and saw a grey squirrel appear who was then chased by next doors dogs. Soon after a collared dove flew onto the wall not more than 15 feet away followed soon after by another. At first I thought it was the mate and then realised it was a young one, very uncertain, faltering in the wind, clinging to the dry stone wall and staying very close to mum. I am assuming that is me that has faltered for too long and it is now time to fly and I am hoping the dove was the green flag to tell me I am doing the right thing. The bag I am assuming was red to emphasize the business is bad news and needs to go. So many thanks for your ‘red flag’ theory, an intersting idea and would probably make a good book that others would value at cetain times in their lives. Jane :mrgreen:

Years ago I did a guest lecture series at UCLA on the power of intuition, I began calling it your intuitive click. I started teaching some of those techniques to my coaching and consulting clients, many of whom had no belief in any of it. But it works.

On the website about the program, http://www.yourintuitiveclick.com , there’s an amazing quote from Donald Trump about his intuition.

    God Joe! 😯

Your Red flag story about the client is exactly what happened to me with a client I took during the summer!

It was yellow flags all the way but I though I needed this client because of the money. In the end the Red Flag forced me to fire this client and loose money at the same time. I didn’t care about the money anymore, I needed my sanity back and I needed to get my business on the RIGHT TRACK! I was totally off-tracked by one WRONG client!

When it all ended, I realized that this is not the kind of client I was targetting for my business anyway! He did NOT fit my ‘Ideal Customer Profile’ which I promised myself to stick to from now on. I was left wandering what got into me and I took this client in the frist place (well, outstanding debts payments in the bank….). If I had noticed the yellow flags and directed myself to other clients who really ‘fit’ the ‘ideal’ profile for my business, I would have been better off now.

I spent 2 whole months just to get a lesson from the Universe, telling me to see the sings and never to settle for less than what I really want and what I really deserve.

I would love to see this new book from you. Write to me if you need stories!

    P.S.
I also get dreams as yellow and red flags, all the time! Its my favourite way of getting the flags because the dreams give me straightforward messages and they are a blessing!

I got yellow flags on the provider who could get me one. I went to a different provider. Sometimes you get yellow flags on the actual goal, but that wasn’t the case in my story. :roll:Hi Joe,
I found your website through watching the “Secret”. For some reason your face stood out in the movie so I have been in and out of your website and have enjoyed your news letters. I think you should definetly write about the red flag therory. I am Mrs. red flag that had many signs (strong ones ) but never listened to my gut because of fear. All my life . Infact I’m about to go into my second divorce after seven years of marriage. I was warned strongly in the beginning. He said all the right things, did all the right things however somthing just kept knawing at me. I would call his work and the secretary would say are you the girl who keeps him laughing all the time? I was like yeah….we had some momnets of laughter but when I hung up I had a hugh sign that no I was not the girl he was laughing with.(and then ignored my inner voice) Note that I had only known him for a few months. After about 4 months of dating he asked me to marry him. I said yes…then felt really wierd afterwards. Something kept bothering me like some invisible force was pushing me to the computer in my apartment. I went to the pc looked up his screen name and in a instant his password came into my head. He had never told me this password and I had only knew him a few month (talk about creepy) In his emails were noted to another women ( women who had live two doors down from his x-wife:roll: saying how bad he wanted to be with her and bad it was to be ingaged to me. After all that he wrote me a note saying how sorry he was and I just ignore the voice and continued we were married within the next two months. The night before the day we were sopose to wed I again just felt sick, he was staring at every women on the beach. I clearly knew he did not want to get married, me either but did it anyway. Seven years later I have just asked for a divorce. It has been with out a doubt the strangest years of my life. All my life this has been happening. Now I am left with rent thats $1500.00 and a not so secure job that I don’t like and I am waiting for my flag to tell me what to do. I have almost given into the idea of just continuing to barely exist with this man out of pure fear for my son and I to be able to live comfortable. So yes Joe write the book because its needed and I need to figure out why I am so fearful that I recongize the flags however I ignore them.
    Hope for a miracle:oops:

    Joe,
I highly encourage you to write a book on red flags. Your style and grace with pen on paper has inspired me to Zero Limits. I consider the flag system to be the intuition’s way of communicating and I too have stories of times I’ve seen the flags and progressed and of times I’ve ignored the flags and experienced some of my greatest lessons. This entire week I have chosen to see the yellow flags in some job opportunities and the results are less stress and more action! Please write a guideline for all of us to enjoy and share with others. I so enjoy the wonderful feel of your books. I’m pretty sure I met you in Houston, back in the days when Bill Furgeson held small seminars in a house in Spring Branch, which became Centerpoint. I know I will see you in the near future. And I have eternal gratitude for how easily I have learned from your works.

    Joe,
I am putting together a fall retreat for women entitled “The Green Sisterhood Experience”. The location is in East Texas 60 miles north of Houston. The experience is designed for women 50 and older. So many women who reach their fifth decade on this lovely planet, awaken to find they have settled for less than they dreamed of and decide to get “old”, both mentally, emotionally and physically. The Green Sisterhood Experience combines a bit of pampering with a large splash of Mother Nature and delightful messages from those living their dreams, encouraging participants to embrace this so-called “middle age” and live a life filled with love, joy, and vibrant health.
The inspiration for The Green Sisterhood Experience came after reading your book “The Attactor Factor”. I simply picked up a pencil and wrote it out on paper. I have never experienced such an ease in writing before that very moment or felt so in touch with the energy of Divine inspiration. After reading what I had captured on paper, I went forward with an intention to make this dream come true. I ordered your Hypnotic Marketing Kit from Nitro Marketing and began studying Internet marketing and planning ways to reach out with my contribution to the “older” women on this planet.
I was on top of a mountain in southern New Mexico when the inspiration for the retreats came forth. It was mid April. I have since read Zero Limits, and as this fasinating Universe works, a series of events led me home to Texas where I discovered a wonderful location for the first of many retreats to come. I now know the entire experience was and is Divine inspiration and it is my passionate desire to see my inspired plan unfold. I am taking ACTION! Are you available for speaking engagements?

    Hey Joe,

    Amazing post

The book would fly off the shelves, because it’s a tangible way to categorize the levels of fear and intuition we feel about certain things on an ongoing basis.

Why not get 10-20 real world examples and 10-20 noted stories (famous, politicians, etc.) to contribute their stories about moments of intuition like the Trump story above (more fleshed out…) and then apply it to a red, yellow and green flags process. Then you can work that into the analysis of what’s happening physiologically and spiritually.

The book would write itself and be an incredible resource for those who are looking for incredible experiences!

Let me know if you need any help 😉

    Live Awesome!

    Hello Joe,
The red flags theory is brilliant. I hadn’t thought of my experience in those terms before and I relish the sheer pay-attention-simplicity of the analogy. I love the comment you make about waiting versus entering the game. I entered the game recently myself and I was entirely surprised by the green flags that consistently presented themselves at every turn. I had expected yellow and red flags. Had I not entered the game, I would still be more in relationship with a lie. I did not even realize this dynamic at play in that past situation until I had read what you had written. Thanks for helping me to make more conscious the act of choosing to get in the game; that, combined with paying attention is a sure fire way for me to get dis-illusioned! YES!
Thanks, Mr. Fire, for your radiant brilliance.
    Love, gratitude and blessings,
    Patti

    Hi Joe,

I would like to read a book on how you write to motivate yourself to write another book.
Right now I am making good money, passively, giving me more
I imagined a few years ago.
I know I could easily make way more.
    And I propably will.

I think you know alot about motivation, I would love
    to read more about that.

Joe, there is also a site, you should check out.
    It is called: http://www.livingonlove.com

Wishing you more love and happiness,

    Felix

    Forgot to add the P.S:
If you should ever check out the site, you will
be totally excited about the new possibilities.
Now that you wanna start a new project,
contact me, as I already taught a lot of
people about this magical power and want to teach more.
    Thank you.

The movie thesecret is just wonderful. I have watched it at least a dozen times. I have tried very hard to incorporate it into my life.

Thank you for giving me hope.

    Dear Joe,
I’ve only been reading your books for the last six month’s. I like your Red Flags theory but after reading Zero Limits i am not sure it is necessary. I have been clearing almost constantly for this last week (since I started reading Zero Limits) and everything is as you say. As I get to zero the Universe steps in and leads the way. Yes, I must pay attention but life seems to be all green flags now.
Thank you so very much for Zero Limits.

Wow, Joe! I have to tell you that the “flags” signals really resonates with me!

Recently my daughter called me to ask how she should answer a question on an employment application. I was with my coach, an ex-corporate HR person so I passed the question on to her. Her answer was that my daughter should answer the question exactly the way she felt about it, truthfully! (It was “how much do you want to get paid?… multiple choice and “open” was not a choice.) I had been taught that you should answer questions like that the “right way…open” so you would get hired. My coach pointed out that it would not be wise to “fit in someone’s box” tell the truth and make sure the job is a good fit.

I thought of my last corporate job and all the “yellow and red flags” that I ignored. I would have been much better off to pass on that job. It was absolute torture… but I went out of my way to “fit in their box” and I totally ignored every flag and instinct I had!

Often now I find that things happen naturally, and without effort almost, when I am “watching the flags,” aware, and listening to my instincts.

    Hi Joe,

Ernest O’Dell here from Blanco, Texas and the Blanco Republic. Your “Red Flags” post reminded me so much of what an old priest taught me years ago about paying attention to our “gut instincts” and not “foo-foo’ing” them. Foo-foo is actually the word he used… sort of like we blow things off.

In many ways, you remind me so much of him that I think he is re-incarnate.

I got a green flag just this past Saturday. I had finished an article about “Destinations and Goals” when I heard the subject matter come up in a sermon. Then the subject matter came up in a conversation. I was recounting a past incident to a friend of mine and he told me, “Ernest, don’t look back or you’ll get off course from your destination.” I took that as a “green light” to continue in the direction I’ve been working on for the ranch property.

I just went out there again Saturday and this morning. First impressions have always been the right ones with me, whether green, yellow or red. This is definitely a green flag.

Thank you so much for being an inspiration to me and to your many fans here in Blanco.

Hi, Joe–just this evening I received an email regarding a possible job offer, but something in the wording made me hesitate. I decided I would answer it tomorrow because something ‘just did not feel right’. Thanks so much for your blog. My yellow flag looks a lot redder now and I know what I will do! Please write the book! Thanks, Karen

    Joe,

Along these lines, a great book to read is “Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting: The Power of Positive Feelings” from Lynn Grabhorn . Lynn mentions the flag theory too – message is the same.

    It’s a great idea & I’ve utilized it often.

Ooooohhh yeah! Just left a job with yellow flags all over the place. Really wanted the money he offered to pay. Little squeezy things goin’ on in my stomach on a regular basis. Really wanted the money. Ignored squeezy things. Had to quit and never even got paid. Lesson: Do not ignore squeezy things… Note yellow flags. Saw the show on Donny D. with Trump. Totally caught how he got the flu which prevented him from going to do the deal. Saw very clearly Trump example – now see very clearly the Mary issue.

Plan to have your perception a little sooner very soon!

Sonora, if you loved Lynn’s book – you probably are a student of Abe, as she was!

    Best to all! :)Mary

I ignored one of the biggest flags in my life. It was my sister’s birthday and i agreed to go out with her for the night. The door was wide open, it was a beautiful summer’s day. As i tried to walk outside something/someone not visible to the eye blocked the doorway. I didn’t take heed and broke through the barrier. Actually i fell outside onto the ground. Afew hours later i was in a horrible car crash. I want to thank you for putting me on my journy to “awakening” . So THANK YOU it’s very exciting. Hope to be reading your book soon.

I would be very interested in that book. I’ve always thought about the red flags and sometimes I ask myself these were red flags or challenges. Should things always be easy and smooth-sailing if it’s meant to be? I guess this has something to do with the guilt factor again, too.

    Hi Dr Vitale,

I first read about your flags in the Attractor Factor book which I dogeared through a lot of reading. The article here is a lot like the one in the book.

I think you should write about red flags because lots would be helped. I would be the first to buy that book.

I have read several of your books and I must say that I am immensely enriched.
    I am currently reading Ho’oponono.

    Kind regards and God bless,

I think you should call the book “Green Flags.” Red Flags has a negative connotation.

    Hello Mr. Vitale:
I wouldn’t like to say so many things to you. But this time I Will Just have to stick to the matter at hand which is your ” Red Flags Theory” . After reading about what you believe of the signs given to you to Stop or continúe in one’s life decisions, I have tought
of many times in my life that these signs have appeared to warn me to “watch out for whats coming if you do” and it has ben a disaster. So to me it would be great to read it. I hope You do decide to write it, as I for one need that guidance. Have a great rest of the week and Thanks You!
