I flew to Houston recently to do one thing: test drive a Spyker, a hand made exotic super car from Holland.

It was a departure from my usual way of doing things. I never take a day off to fly to another city just to see a car. But it felt right. It felt like I almost couldn’t stop myself from doing it.

That bothered me.

I wondered why I was so intent on seeing that car. It was a stretch to see it. I had to interrupt my day, my business, my life. But I know the power of stretching to increase personal growth. I also know the power of trusting those hunches. So I stretched.

Now here’s where this gets interesting.

spyker car

I thought I was going to see the Spyker. After all, that’s why I booked the flight.

But from a higher plane (no pun intended), I actually went there for a completely different reason.

Yes, I went to see the car. That was the sole purpose of the trip. But once I knew I was going anyway, I started to think of what else I could do in Houston.

Recently I had been interviewed for three different CNN radio shows out of Houston.  The host liked me and asked to talk about filming a TV show with me. I told him about Operation YES, my movement to end homelessness. He liked it. So we planned to talk again soon.

Well, since I was going to Houston anyway, I asked if he wanted to meet. He did.

As it turns out, I loved driving the Spyker car.  It’s fast and furious and oh so unique looking. But it’s also tough to crawl in and out of it, like entering a fighter jet.

I didn’t buy the car.

It appears the real reason I went there was the CNN interview. It was intense brainstorming, high energy, and led to solid action. We made plans to make a realty TV show out of my helping homeless people with the Law of Attraction and my other work.

So why did I go to Houston?

Was it the car or CNN?

Obviously I consciously thought it was for the car.

But unconsciously I was really going there for CNN.

The lesson here is to trust the process.

Even when it may seem like you are off track, you may actually be on the right path.

You might doubt yourself or feel disappointed when you take action for a reason (such as to see a car) and it doesn’t work out.

But if you relax and breathe and remain aware, you will probably find there’s a better reason for the action you took.

Since you can learn from everything and everyone, it’s most likely true that you are always on the right path.

Assume that’s true and see if life takes on more of an exciting charm.

What if what you’re doing right now, no matter what it is or what you prefer, is exactly the right moment for you?

What if there’s something in this moment that is for you to see and act on that you hadn’t previously seen or considered?

Think about it.

For funsies, you can watch me meeting the 2008 Spyker Laviolette in Houston right here:

    Hi Joe

Thanks for the blog post and reminder that one should trust your instinct or gut feeling more often, sometimes it’s not our job to question it, but to just take the necessary actions… Perfect timing with this post by the way
    Thanx:-)

The Secret Law of Attraction is immensely powerful. Simply put, it is defined to mean that whatever we think about, we manifest into reality.

Beautiful car Joe, and thanks for reminding us that sometimes the conscious mind doesn’t know what our unconscious mind has in store 🙂

    Happy Easter too!

I’m not much of a sports car person, I prefer the slow luxury style….

I think ending homelessness is so important, I was homeless for around 2 years prior to learning about the law of attraction.

Life is increasing very rapidly these days, I will be following operation yes to see what I can do to help..

Everyone deserves a nice warm place to stay and I also believe with the right push anyone can save themselves from homelessness.

This article is very timely for me as I have been intensely questioning my path over the past few weeks, to such a degree that I have been deeply emotional about it. I can honestly say that there have been many changes and events in my life recently that I do not yet understand the purpose for.

Reading this post has reminded me that there likely is a purpose, and it will become apparent soon enough.

Dear Joe, feel free to delete this comment. The thing is, I bought your awakening course on the first of April and today, while listening to session 3 I noticed it doesn’t work. It goes on for couple of seconds and then it stops. Who can I usually contact in this case? Could you possibly fix this and send me a link with the full version so that I keep enjoying it? That would be greatly appreciated, thank you! Blessings from Eva

    Joe –
This is a great post. And it’s possible that the reason you posted it was so that some of us could read it!
That would speak to the fact that you are very much in tune with the universe and as such, are being used in ways you can’t even imagine. You really are a blessing to so may of us.

This is something that I started to become very conscious of in the last few years…trusting my gut…going with my intuition.
And I can tell you that more often than not, I end up experience a lesson, learning a truth, meeting a person, or finding a resource that I was not intending to when I followed my inner lead. It just sort of “happens”.
Life can be awesome like that!

    Take care

Excellent post, Joe, and I can definitely relate to it. I thought I was moving to Dallas for one purpose and ended up working with David Stanley on the film project which opened up a whole new world for me in films. And that’s just one example. We think we’re running the show but usually a higher power is at work.

The car looked like a lot of fun but you’d need to build yet another garage for it. 🙂

What a great idea! Not only will the show empower the homeless, it will also raise awareness for this important issue. I hope the show comes about & is very successful.

“The Secret” is just another gimmick that self-help gurus use to make more money. It’s really a matter of attitude.

If you want to fall for “feel good” fluff from the same people who are as trustworthy as televangelists go right ahead.

Jay Abraham says it best: “You can be a theorist, an idealist or a realist. Just remember that it’s the realists who make things happen.”

The name escapes me at the moment, but a company highly involved with F1 racing is now making a production car called the S-12 that is completely blowing everyone else out of the water. Joe, you might like it. 🙂 Just what you need is to build another garage for your toys, like a Jay Leno protege!

As for the post, I have also found that keeping the spirit of giving, of being a clear channel for the divine as much as possible, tends to shoot me straight at the target, even if i didn’t see the target beforehand. Thank You for doing what you do!

    Dear Joe,

Here a message from Holland. (And YESSS what a beauty the spyker car!) I’m reading your book ‘The Key’ right now and it really helps me to get fom where i am right now to where i want to be! It’s a new way of thinking and living for me and I struggle a lot with my unconscious beliefs, but I am convinced all my dreams and ideas will come true! With thanks to all you American coaches!
(Where are they in Holland? Love to go to a seminar..)
Wishing you (and everyone) the best,
    Sophie

That sure was a very nice car! I couldn’t see myself ever spending that much for a vehicle although it is all relative the more money you have. I’m glad you had a great trip and you made the right choice to go to CNN. I met you once Joe. I was a sales trainer at Prosper for a few years when you came for a visit. Keep up the great work with the homeless.
