Mind Tattoos or How to Change Even Faster with Russell Crowe and James Caan

emerald-green-gem.jpg I was thinking the other day about the people who look at me as a celebrity. I was wondering why some people go ga-ga when they see me and others could care less.

The difference is those who saw me in movies such as The SecretThe Compass or Try It On Everything, or on television shows such as Larry King or Donny Deutsch, all have me branded in their mind. I’m a mind tattoo.

But how does that work?

How did a regular guy get turned into a celebrity?

How does a “branding” get into the mind, anyway?

I’ve met a fair amount of celebrities over the last few years, and I’ve usually had the same starstruck experience.

But why?

And what can we learn from this?

Movies and television are great programming tools. Since the mind responds to emotion and visuals, a good movie or TV show will literally brand its characters in our minds. They can become unforgettable. They can become mind tattoos.

When people see me on the screen, they are actually programming their mind with emotion and imagery — the two best ways to make a mental impression — which means there’s a “brand” or “imprint” or “tattoo” in their mind around Joe Vitale’s face.

When they then see me on the street, their mind goes click, brings up the branded memory, and they get an emotional rush.

I know this feeling, too, of course.

When I went to Robert Redford’s Sundance ski resort in Utah a few weeks ago, I saw actor Russell Crowe (of Gladiator).

Before my mind told me who he was, it told me to stop and stare. Once I recognized him a moment later, I went ga-ga like anyone else who’s been programmed. I never did speak to him.

When I met actor James Caan, I was the same way.

Jimmy, as he likes to be called, was open, friendly and playful with me. But for the first few minutes all I could see was a super star. I could barely speak. I was starring at Sonny from The Godfather. It was hard to shake it loose and just see James Caan as the lovable tough guy he really is. (I eventually relaxed and had a wonderful time with Jimmy. He’s cool.)

Now here’s what this has to do with you and me:

If you want to change anything, you need to do it with emotion and imagery, just the way movies and television imprint your mind.

In other words, trying to change yourself with just thinking won’t cut it. You need to reach the emotional brain. You do that with imagery and feeling. If you add in repetition, you’ll create lasting change.

For example, I’ve been studying Spanish in prep for my trip to Peru in May, where I’ll be speaking to 35,000 people in a stadium about the Law of Attraction, along with Bob Proctor.

When I try to learn Spanish by looking at the words and repeating them, it’s an uphill struggle. But when I learn the language with visuals and emotion, and add repetition, my mind then accepts the new “branding.”

If you want to attract money, for example, see yourself already wealthy, feel the joy of helping yourself and others with the money, and repeat this in your mind as much as its fun to do so.

By doing this you will “brand” your mind with the new you. Once it takes hold (which can be very fast), and you act on your ideas, you will begin to attract money.

The lesson here is this: to change yourself you need to use imagery, emotion, and repetition. Do all three and virtually anything is possible.

* “Espere milagros” is Spanish for “Expect miracles.”

Note: The picture is of an emerald green gem. I just felt like putting it there. No reason. Or was there? 🙂 Actually, it’s going to be the color of my eco-exotic hydrogen-hybrid Scorpion sports car, being made for me next month right here in Texas.

    Hiya

    I enjoyed this article.
It’s amazing how quickly we can be tattooed by glamourous, highly emotive movies and that’s an excellent way to reveal we can also tattoo ourselves just as easily for positive change. Thanks for the reminder.

I also used imagery, feeling and repetition to good effect in learning a second language recently. Now I’m using it in developing the skills for making more money and a healthier lifestyle.

    Thanks for your help

Thank You Joe. I really appreciate your writing style. Each time I read something of yours you just make sense of it all. Each time I read what you have written it rings something deep in my soul. I am grateful for the law of attraction as somehow I attracted your book in such a weird way. I went to the local store to grab just something to read while my boyfriend watched the hockey game. There was only two (count ’em TWO) books in the store and the one I purchased was yours…. I got goose bumps as I was reading it. I literally felt like I was having an anxiety:shock: attract but then realized I was reading something EXTREEMLY meaningFULL!:razz:
So here is a thank you from me!
    Thank YOU!

Excellert article – I really appreciated your candour. If only more people understood how easy it is to program our minds in a manner that does not truly benefit us.

It’s great to see how you’re also expanding your comfort zone with this Peru trip next month. I’m sure it’ll be a resounding success.

    Best wishes

“Espere milagros”.

Your books and other products have been a blessing to me while I continue to grow and awaken. Using your products, I have recently attracted a car into my life, my first BMW! And I am working on an ebook about the experience. Also working on my goals to become wealthy and make money online. I can already see how much I have continued to grow and create my own reality. For me, the challenging part is to turn off my “empathic” side in order to not allow others negativity or doubt to cloud my results, or confuse their emotions with mine. I continue to monitor this and move forward in life. Thank you Joe! Hope to meet you some day. 🙂

Expect miracles”. It would be able to write this answer in English, but since say you that is learning Spaniard, perhaps would be suitable him a little practice. It does more than one year, perhaps two, that knew on “The Secret” and was there that I knew about you for the first time. They said he be in transit, when they said in the movie what was that secret, I laughed before similar “secret”. What the secret has of secret is the same thing that the fact that a small watered down called town in a small island exists Caribbean call Puerto Rico has of secret. Simply that relatively few people knows it, but is no secret. Comply I read its article, I see what you mean you with that matter of the fame, and for my surprise I found me to myself trying to convince me that that does not have application in me. But yes has. Before seeing The Secret, perhaps it to have seen you in the street and to have been another type more. Now is someone different before my eyes. The concept of the Law of Attraction was not somewhat new for me for when I saw the movie for the first time. But it was a point in which already was ready to accept it well. The main problem that found with the movie is that this supposes that to use the Law of Attraction in own benefit is very easy. Having studied techniques of management of the emotions and of energy psychology, well knew I that that was not thus of easy. “Simply changes what you feel, “changes the channel”, that is not thus of easy. The sensations of desire have their origin in beliefs and emotions related to the lack of it desired. And if what we feel is that something lacks us, we are going to continue attracting the lack of what we desire. That it is chiefly the problem that saw with all this matter of the Law of Attraction. If we do not resolve the feeling of lack, we will continue creating the lack of what we desire. Changing our emotions as well as our beliefs requires work on one same and takes time. No wonder that there be many ready people to test and to leave desilucionadas.

As always Joe, thanks for seeing the world the way you do. You are right, we do have mind tattos and we need to start altering that to get the results we want. Thank you for sharing with me your comments and thoughts, you’ve helped me take charge of my life.

Thank you, I love you, I’m sorry

If anyone’s been following, I was awaiting my dream guy to call me and guess what – he did.YEssssSSSsssSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The three things that I wished for in the book “The Key” were
    1. Me and a few other people save the world
    2. Eckhart Tolle marries me (though I wanted him on the rebound from an earlier crush on this guy who I am actually getting with now and he’s closer to my age).
    3. I got loads of friends and am really popular. Only a few weeks after doing the key I made a new circle of good friends, one even calls me everyday and calls me just to offer to babysit while I go on dates. Que Bueno!
    WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Viva La Jave!!!!!!!!!!!!

    What a great post, Joe!

Mind tattoos (imagery, emotion, and repetition): an analogy and a lesson that I will make sure to remember… and to apply to my everyday life!

Thank you so much for sharing such a magnificent wisdom!

  17. April 18, 2009 at 10:34 am

THanks, Joe. I’ve been trying to crystallize in my mind what you state so eloquently. I’m a student of expressive arts and I’ve been struck by the relationship between our own internal images and the act of manifesting.

Your post finally made that relationship click. Studies in split-brain research (how the left and right side of the brain function differently) show that we process all incoming information as images first, thoughts and words, second.

So it makes total sense that to reprogram yourself, images are more effective than words.

Thanks again, your wisdom is your gift.

That’s a great phrase you’ve coined ‘mind tattoo’.
It represents a permanent imprint that can be flashed up onto the screen of our mind whenever we choose to look at it.
It’s a very good way of explaining the result obtained when combining imagery, emotion and repitition of our desires.

Great post, Joe. I teach others to live a created life, to get back in touch with the dreams they had as children and live with passion, power and panache! In my coursework, often the passion for life, the emotional commitment which has been buried by their “Oughta-Pilots”(TM) – all the oughta-do’s and shoulds of their lives – get rediscovered just as you say.

Once the mind tattoos are uncovered (imagery, emotion, and repetition) everything opens up and nothing is impossible.

I love your writing. So powerful and passionate. Keep up the good work.
