My entire day got rearranged when Rhonda Byrne’s new book, The Power, arrived. I dropped everything to read it. I have been waiting for her sequel to the global hit movie and book The Secret since 2006. Well, it’s finally here.

I’ve liked Rhonda ever since she first called me in 2005 and invited me to be in “some movie” she wanted to make. She had read my book, The Attractor Factor, and loved it. She said she was creating a movie about the Law of Attraction and wanted me in it.

Would I be interested?

Not really, and not at first.

I had no idea if she were real or not. Many people have wild ideas and big dreams. Most don’t take any action, though. But I told her I was open to the idea.

Months later I was filmed for the movie. Months after that the movie was released. The rest, as they say, is history. I’ve gone on national television because of my role in the movie, been speaking around the world, been invited to star in several other movies, and got new book deals and more, all thanks to Rhonda and The Secret.

I’m grateful. And I’ve been just as eager for her follow-up book. When I was on the Larry King TV show the second time, years ago, I announced a sequel to the movie. Rhonda had led me to believe one was in the works. Well, we’re still waiting. But today the sequel to the book is here.

And it’s GREAT.

The Power is about love. In short, when you love anything, you feel different, and you end up attracting more of the same in your life to love. If you can just focus on love, your entire life will blossom.

the power

Yes, The Power is about the Law of Attraction. But the book explains LOA in a practical way. It explains the essence of the Law of Attraction.

Rhonda doesn’t quote any of the teachers from The Secret to prove her points. Instead, she quotes from the legends — Jesus, Buddha, Einstein — all dead authorities. None can argue with her. And they all seem to say you can have what you want if you practice love. Well, I agree.

It’s clear that Rhonda is a fan of Neville Goddard. She quotes him repeatedly. I’m a fan, too, and republished Neville’s first book years ago, called At Your Command. Rhonda and I have had at least two dinner conversations where we discussed Neville.

In short, Neville taught that if you can feel what you want as if it were already fact, it would become reality. I’ve written about Neville in The Attractor Factor and other books, etc. He’s a hero of mine. Rhonda loves him, too. His message is an undercurrent throughout her book.

rhonda joe in maui

The Power is an upbeat, wise, feel good read. You wouldn’t expect anything less from the wizard behind The Secret. I love the book and will re-read it, give it as gifts, and more. I think it will become a New Thought classic.

But I still take issue with Rhonda’s stance that you don’t really have to take any action to attract what you want.

I was the guy in the movie The Secret stating you needed to act on your ideas. But Rhonda still believes what you want will just come to you if you feel it real. I’m sure for the person who created a movie sweeping the globe, who made over $300,000,000 in sales, and who has been pursued since 2006 for her next projects, that for her it seems like it’s all coming her way without effort.

But I also noticed that when The Power was getting close to publication date, that emails from Rhonda started appearing. It seemed as if she was waking up her list before telling them she had a book coming out.

That, to me, is action.

It’s also wise marketing.

I’ve seen things happen seemingly without effort, of course. When I attracted my new Spyker car and wanted to be in Heavy Hitters magazine again, I opened their magazine and was surprised to see myself in it. I hadn’t done anything. Yet there I was.

Still, it’s been my experience that you need to co-create your life.  You are creating in participation with the Divine. You are still needed to do things.

The Heavy Hitters magazine didn’t have a photo of me and my Spyker (it was of me and my Rolls-Royce). So I wrote to the editor (note I’m taking inspired action) and showed him pics of my Spyker. He then agreed to run a feature on me and my new car in the next issue.

spyker flying doors

In short, I had to take action to attract my goal.

Then again, maybe Rhonda is right and I’m just working too hard.

Find out for yourself.

Go get and read Rhonda Byrne’s book, The Power.

Its power and message is all love.

      Hello everybody.
Does somebody know, where I could get any information or could someone tell me about how it is possible two people can have the same idea in a short interval. I was going to send a comment “Inspired Action = Effortless Flow” but Alex had already done it 🙂
But in many other cases I’d like to be original.

  2. August 19, 2010 at 7:24 am

I guess that Neville would say: “It’s not about Love nor about Action, It’s all about your wonderful human imagination : )”

    Inspired Action = Effortless Flow.

It’s not a matter of “will power”…Inspired action feels like floating on God’s Stream, trusting, enjoying and loving every moment of the journey.

    By the way Joe…

I took an inspired action, and for the past few weeks I’ve “Neviilized” myself a humble collection of some of my favorite classic books (first edition / signed)…Today I received Robert Collier’s “Letter Book” (first edition)…what a joy it is : )

The inspiration to collect the first editions of my favorite books came from you – so thanks a lot!

P.S: Can you please share a few photos of your new office library with all of your books…

Hi Alex. I totally agree: inspired action=effortless flow. Wise words. Yes, I’ll post a photo or two soon. Thanks for asking. Enjoy those books. – joe 🙂

    Hi Joe,
Your post on Rhonda’s new book, ‘Power’ has inspired me to purchase it.
This type of awareness is so empowering and I love it.
BTW, I was extremely excited to watch your interview with Ryan Higgins on the Mind Movies. This was an awesome confirmation for me because I have been using EFT with my affirmations for some time now. The inclusion of the pictures and music is an amazing concept and I have gone on to create my own. I was so inspired by this concept and your opinion on it, that I did a post featuring the ‘Mind Mastery Video Series’. I’d be honored if you’d stop by and check it out on my site some time.
    Be Well.

Thanks Joe, I am running to buy a book right now.

IMHO, you need actions not only positive thoughts and visualization. You also need to find a ‘niche’ – something that you enjoy doing – since only joy will bring out positive emotions in you.
Around 6 months ago I finally ‘dared’ to open my own software company. What a joy (and stress :)) it was. However only after I opened it I realized what does it mean to be happy and to enjoy what you are doing. Only then LOA “kicked in” and everything around me started to come together.
I even ended up developing an iPhone app to practice LOA – Success Diary. I am using it daily now – to visualize and to track daily progress in all my activities. As I said before – only actions bring success.

I think that the most scary moment in my life was when I stared to the abyss of my existence. And then I realized that I coul jump in or jump of.

Even I was afraid to fly, I made my wings with my dreams… now, I know: Action is required when you feel the love and the thrust: “Eeverything is okay. Do it!” Then DO IT!

    Hi Joe!
I bought “The Power” yesterday and started reading it, and have to say I´m very disappointed. I think it is just a rehash of old stuff. Just shallow rambling from a person trying to make money on other peoples knowledge. 🙁
Thank God for books like “Expect Miracles”, “The Key” and “Zero Limits! They are priceless. 🙂 Now I´m going to buy Neville Goddard´s book “At Your Command”. Thank you for your tip! I like him too.
And of course – action is very important. Not always, but more often than not, according to my own experience.

“The knowledge contained in The Power can and will change lives instantly. And the profound revelations are amplified by the book’s breathtaking illustrations – the book’s beauty is truly astounding.”

The Power is the book Rhonda Byrne was inspired to write after answering several thousands of letters from readers of The Secret.
I am reading it right now. It is good……I’ll get back when I am done reading it:)

    Dear Mr. Vitale.
I don’t know if you see this post, and I decided to write you, because you always see miracles everyday. Maybe this miracle can be useful in your work or a next book.
I live in Chile, in south america. We have suffered various misfortunes, including the earthquake in February this year that left half the country into the ground.
And on top of evils, 17 days ago came the collapse of a mine San Jose, with 33 miners were trapped underground, not knowing if they were alive or dead.
while all blamed each other about this misfortune, something extraordinary happened:always thought they were alive.
I mean always, even though there was no contact with them, everyone assumed they were alive. families, rescue workers, unions, politicians and government (even the news) refused to believe otherwise, and even when faith was coming down when all rescue attempts failed, guess what: Today we made contact, a simple line: “We’re fine, the 33 in the shelter”.
We inform the world that we have 33 ” miracles’ men”.
I think that if from the beginning we had all assumed that the mine and crushed, we would not be celebrating. If for five minutes our politicians and journalists have assumed that what was sought was the opposite result, this had not happened.
I leave the answers to the universe, because is true: “your wishes are my comand”
Maybe you know this miracle. If you pray for that, thanks. If you sent good thoughts, thanks. thanks to all.
    with love from Chile.

PD. sorry my english :=) and excuse this post.

It sounds like a really good program, and I’d like to get set up on it too. Any advice?

Hi Julia. I don’t know how the Amazon affiliate system works. If you look at my blog post review of The Power, you’ll see there isn’t a single link to Amazon at all, let alone a direct affiliate link to her book. My review was simply my opinion of the book. Thanks. Be well. – joe

I am currently listening to/just finished “Buying Trances” on audio. Iliked it! I incorporated some of the stories and loops into the blog I started for my company: Intelligent humor is the name of my game, and I love your advice, and positivity.

    Hi All

Honestly, I feel that the Power offers nothing different or specil from what we have experienced in “The Secret”. It tends to regagitates the secret and only elaborates on point that were not covered in depth.

I understand the notion of continuation and interrelated ness… but generrally, I see “The Power” as a cut and replacement of “the Secret”.

Nevertheless, the contents and message remain profound.

  20. September 12, 2010 at 8:10 am

I love Rhonda’s new book “The power”. I agree with the others who say it’s somewhat similar to the Secret, but it is written from a different perspective. Everyone learns a different way. I enjoy this interpretation of the law of attraction more. It fits my psyche and I thank Rhonda for it. I am buying several copies to give as gifts to my family and customers.
By the way I think Rhonda also believes in inspired action!
Hope the follow up movie comes out soon!

Thanks for this opportunity to comment Joe.

Of course with every experience you have to do some actions, the key is to do the right actions at the right place and at the right time.
Even if you just have to say OPEN SESEME to open the treasure cave is an action. When you use love and you are placed at the door to the treasure cave the action may well be that you then just have to say open seseme, that is your action.and there is you treasure.I am sure M/s Byrne would agree with that.
I have studied M/s Byrnes book The Power and I have concluded it is indeed a extraordinaryly powerfull document and the information is life and world changing and if M/s Byrne make another $300,000,000 in worldwide sale all power to her.

Wondered if someone could help with a question? I know about the Secret and have the Power book. I know the concepts but not every principle, etc., yet. I keep having the same thing come up for me. I have 5 boys and we believe in the concepts that are taught through the Law of Attraction, etc. but I sometimes feel like I get this Attraction stuff thrown in my face. Example: hypothetically, if I have a “certain” budget for the month from a job, (I know you can create more and it will come) but let’s say you currently have $ 100.00 and your power bill is $ 100.00 and your kid wants to go to an activity for $ 40.00, do you take the 40.00 out of your 100.00 with good positive thinking that the money will come back to you by the time your power bill is due? or do you pay your power bill? When I said I feel like I get it thrown in my face, I mean that my children (some of which study the books/attraction) lightheartedly, say, oh mom, you have to love spending the money and it will just come. Sometimes, I laugh and think yeah, keep spending my money and thinking this is easy. Wait til it is your $. Now, I do applaud them for their good creative/abundant thinking and I too, want to think abundantly. I guess I feel as Mr. Vitale, seemed to mention, there is still action involved, that my kids seem to think you just spend, spend and it comes back if you spend with the intention being loving and good. I keep being caught in what I feel is a trap of trying to follow the principles but also knowing that sometimes the $ I have at that moment are what I have. It does not mean that I do not think more will come, but I happen to be someone who would like to pay their power bill in full when due as opposed to going out to dinner or activity and now I am short in that moment. Do I think the money will come? yes. Have I had miracles, when I have stepped out and took leap of faith? yes, but does anyone else have this experience where others, particularly children, seem to fault you if you do not just freely spend, almost as if they want to throw caution to the wind? and mom, it will just come. I feel trapped between a fine line of believing the “attraction” stuff and sometimes “reality is what it is.”
I know I have a lot to learn and might get blasted as I am creating this problem, I get that. Any advice anyone?? thanks,

Hi Joe. I love all your work – you are a great speaker and such an inspiration to me for several years. You have made me think a little more about this…

I read the printed version of The Power and liked it. However, it wasn’t until I bought the audiobook version that I really felt as though I understood what Rhonda was saying about Love and why she omits to mention action. Perhaps something of her belief came through more strongly, but I am beginning to comprehend just how extraordinary her vision is – so powerful in fact that I cannot put into words what she is trying to help us all see.

Her book puts me in mind of this quote from Emma Curtis Hopkins who wrote: “”Everything is really full of love for you. The good that is for you loves you as much as you love it. The good that is for you seeks you and will come flying to you if you see that what you love is love itself. All people will change when you know that they are love. We shall change towards all people when we know that we ourselves are formed out of love. All is love. There is nothing in all the universe but love.”

Rhonda identifies herself, and us all, completely with this love. And if, indeed, she is right, then we are the love we seek and so there is nothing to get, nothing to lose, nothing to have – no action to take. It is us. We are it. We are only one thing. Everything. And, therefore, as she says in her book, it is all about me/we. Love.

Franz Kafka also put it well: “You do not need to leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. Do not even listen, simply wait. Do not even wait, be quiet still and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.”

hi Joe, i did not see the secret but read it and the power. the power left me inspired for a few days and eventually wore out. i say that it is extremly hard to control waht you feel abot a certain thing. over the past few months, my life changed from normal to horibile but now i am at peace and im not sure when the peace is going to be broken and the troubles will start. these are huge changes in my life, how will i ever be able to control my thoughts, that are moving so fast in my mind? it is not possible to control ALL your thoughts but it is easy enough to forcefully think about a positive thing for a few minutes, not a whole day! right now, my thoughts are racing so fast i cant comprehend. i think about both bad and good. thinking in my opinion is like a sport. you have to practice every day to get better. you have to remove those thinking habits youve been having for the past years.i think you have 2 b a guru or meditater to achieve ur thinking. very rarely, i can control my feelings. i get mad because of wat hapenend in the past, in the past i made huge mistakes i didnt mean to make, i didnt know wat the consiquenses were giong to b. i was a sore shy loser because i didnt have the guts to take action, again i was 2 afriad of what people were going 2 think if i had changed. i know if u change ur thinking u change ur self as well, i like myself the way i wasbut i only wanted 2 make a slight change not a big one. i didnt feel like feeling good because i didnt want to be too much of this, too much of that, i didnt want to be the chicken WHO layed the golden eggs, i wanted to be just a chicken, a normal chicken who had a normal life. think of it like this, i didnt want to be treated like a superstar, cameras all around me, taking in my every move, and have millions of fans, i wanted to be a normal person, with a normal life. i didnt want EVERY situation i was in to be happy and delightfull, just 59good/41 bad.btw, i am very young, like under 18. ireadbth, pow

Hi taylor. Well its about what you really want and focusing on it
And yes at times it is not possible to sustain positive thought (in a day)though at night when you go to sleep put beautiful peace of music and
Feel good and as high as u can with it and then start imagining what u desire and ur feelings will intensify the more u enjoy it and the nex day u will surely look for the stuff u imagined subconsciously and if
U remember what it feels like having what u imagined ie ur desire u willfor sure grab the opportunity. And that is how it works for all
In state of love one expects to see what they love….since u have read the book power ur concept of magnetic fields due to power is not clear so work on it and u will observe that when u feel wonderful about having simple life others who will come in contact with you will also stat feeling same way the way u feel. But if u feel bad about having normal life others to will feel bad about ur normal life so its just matter of how u feel, but feelings I derive from beautiful peace of music and imagine it with music

I’ve used the law of attraction and I’ve found sometimes you need to take action, sometimes not. A new baby kitten arrived at my door step. A postman brought my set of felt tip pens to my door unsolicited, A friend called out of the blue and invited me on a fantastic once in a lifetime trip. I won’t say you have to take no action and I won’t say you always have to do something to make something happen. When Heaven and earth is being moved to make something happen you never know which way its coming.

I believe that LOA and taking action will get you your results quicker; no one would doubt that. But is believing you’ll have what you want, to constantly monitor your thoughts and feelings, in itself taking action?
