Recently I struggled with an inspired idea. I’ll share the personal story with you here as it illustrates how the Law of Attraction actually works.  If this pushes any buttons in you, use that as an opportunity to get clear of any limiting beliefs you may have about abundance. Those “buttons” in you are restricting beliefs currently wired in your brain. You can change them. This is your chance to experience a miracle.

Here goes:

Years ago I wrote about buying a $700 gold cigar lighter. (You can see the gold lighter and hear the story on the free DVD that comes with the hardcover version of my book, Attract Money Now.)

The lighter became a teaching tool to help people experience their limitations about money and deservingness, and to release them. After all, it’s not about the lighter. The lighter is just a lighter. It’s more about what the lighter (and the price of it) triggers in you.

With that in mind, let me tell you the following story…

A month or so ago I ordered an expensive ($10k) watch for myself. It’s a limited-edition Spyker inspired collectible Swiss timepiece, made out of turned steel and French Bouveret hand-stitched leather. It’s designed to replicate aspects of the Spyker car. It was engraved with my name on the back, and my Spyker car production number (174) on the side. It arrived, I put it on, and I’ve been loving it ever since.

Chrono_-_steel_with_turned_metal_dial

The people who sold the watch to me (Expression d’Artistes) wisely kept sending me magazine reviews of their watches. That’s good marketing. It prevented any buyer’s remorse, and it kept their products top level in my mind.

But every time they sent a review, another watch kept leaping out from the photos. This other one is black French leather, pink 18-k gold with a black dial. The first time I saw a picture of it, I loved it. But I didn’t do anything about it.

Spyker 18K Rose Gold black dial

The second time I saw the watch, I decided that it is calling me for a reason.

So I asked how much it cost.

Turns out it is over $30,000.

I paused to take that in.

Thirty thousand dollars for a watch?

I know luxury watches can sell for many times that amount, but still.

I know that a gold watch can be a sound investment, but still.

The world’s most expensive watch may be the Big Bang Chronograph, which sells for $1,000,000. Yes, one million dollars. It’s practically nothing but diamonds.

But still.

most-expensive-watches-Big-Bang-ChronographI wasn’t drawn to it.

Even so, the $30,000 Spyker gold watch seemed really expensive to me, and even for me.

But I couldn’t stop thinking about that watch.

Every time I thought of it, I wanted it.

The thing is, it was triggering my wealth comfort zone. I was hitting my own ceiling of deservingness, something I talk about in such books as Attract Money Now.

AMN book image

I really wrestled with this.

I did clearing and cleaning.

One memory that surfaced was this: It was decades ago. My late wife was cooking dinner. She picked up a jar of tomato sauce but dropped it. It shattered. And we didn’t have the two dollars to buy another one!

Memories like that one needed erased.

So I kept clearing.

I kept hoping the desire for the watch would leave me alone.

But it didn’t.

So here’s where I had to get ruthlessly honest with myself.

I reminded myself that I teach people one of the seven steps in Attract Money Now is Prosperous Purchasing. I was even reminded of how I explained this on national television last year when I was visiting a friend the other day and she played that very TV show for me. (She wanted me to see how good I looked on her giant flat-screen TV monitor. I was impressed.)

There I was, telling people, “When the desire is there, and the money is there, buy the thing!”

I said it’s a way to experience and anchor abundance. I also said don’t buy anything if it will put you in debt or make you feel desperate. Otherwise, if the passion is there, the product or service is there, and the money is there, buy!

Was I going to take my own advice or not?

Nope.

Not yet.

Then I remembered another key statement I teach people: that when you change your beliefs about scarcity to abundance, then spending money and giving money become ways to attract money.

That’s worth repeating:

When you change your beliefs about scarcity to abundance, then spending money and giving money become ways to attract money.

Did I believe what I teach or not?

And with my new audio program coming out tomorrow about abundance, called The Abundance Paradigm, with me declaring you can easily shift from the scarcity mindset to the abundance mindset, was I coming from scarcity or abundance when considering buying the watch?

Well?abundanceparadigmAfter doing just one of the advanced clearing processes in my new program, I finally got clear and decided to order the $30,000 watch.

Ah, life is so much better once you make the decision you wanted to make all along. 🙂

And here’s where the magic appeared.

The very day I wired the deposit for the watch, I received a royalty check from one of my publishers.

I was surprised as it seemed early. I was even more surprised when I opened the envelope and saw the amount.

It was the largest royalty check I had ever received — ever!

Buying the watch would be a tiny percentage of the check.

Clearly letting go of my scarcity beliefs, following my own advice, and staying in the flow of life rewarded me for my action.

Do you see how this works?

Inspiration was asking me to do something: get that gold watch.

Clearing was helping me dissolve the beliefs I had about taking action: you deserve what you desire.

Action caused me to complete the inspiration to get the watch as well as to attract more than enough money to pay for it: action leads to attraction.

The formula looks like this:

Inspiration + Clearing + Action = Magic!

Remember, this post isn’t about a $30,000 gold watch.

Not any more than the $700 gold lighter was about the lighter.

Instead, it’s about following your passion, honoring your inspirations, and letting what comes up be a personal development tool to raise your vibration and your deservingness level.

Everything that occurs in your life is designed to help you to awaken.

I’m telling you, there’s real magic and miracles in the world.

What would you do if you weren’t afraid?

What is inspiration asking you to do?

What is this moment asking of you?

Do it!

Ao Akua,

Joe

OK. Here are the thoughts that popped up as I read (my limiting beliefs) and please don’t take offense:

–Who needs a ten thousand dollar watch? A ten-dollar watch keeps time just as well and it’s less likely to get stolen.
–$30k? For a watch? You could buy a CAR for that money! Or a HOUSE. Something practical.
–If I had a million dollars, I wouldn’t spend it on a WATCH.

Apparently I have some work to do. In all honesty, these don’t sound like my beliefs–they sound like those of my late Mother, who lived through the Great Depression. The $30k watch, btw, is gorgeous.

Your thoughts about the post are exactly right. It’s just a process to expose the beliefs inside. And you’re smart to realize the beliefs aren’t even yours. Cool.

    Hello Joe,
I loved this post. It brought up for me, “When am I finally going to let great levels of abundance flow freely in my life?” Wouldn’t now be a good time?
    Blessings,

    Wow. What timing, Joe!

I just got back this afternoon from my favorite jeweler, where I learned that the diamond earrings that I was ordering for my wife as her 10th-anniversary gift would be four to five times what I had planned to pay.

My wife was with me, and I could tell that the original amount would have led to us buying a pair of earrings that would have annoyed my wife every time that she put them on. She and I decided that we had the money, so I told her that it would bring up negative energy or “bad mojo” every time that she saw the pair with the smaller diamonds.

Apparently thanks to your book Attract Money Now, which I read last December, I quickly made the decision that she had to get the pair (with the larger diamonds) that she really wanted.

I somewhat surprised my wife with how quickly I made the decision. But, as I explained to her during the car ride home, my paradigm was different than it used to be — that I now believe that spending money on what brings us the most joy when we have the money is one of the best ways to teach our unconscious minds to look for more opportunities for money to flow THROUGH our lives.

I already had become a fan of tithing, one of the principles that you teach in Attract Money Now. Reading your post this evening, I realize that I now GET, too, the principle of prosperous spending that you teach in AMN. Thank you, Joe.

    Health/Love/Happiness,
    Kirk

P.S. I have had The Abundance Paradigm for about a week now (through your publisher), and I love it. So I am ordering another copy through you to get your great bonuses, and I will be giving that copy to some dear friends who are long-time followers of the Law of Attraction.

    • November 12, 2010 at 6:28 pm

I’m really impressed with this story, Kirk. Well done. I’m sure your wife is beaming, too.

      • November 14, 2010 at 12:18 pm

Thank you, Joe. Yes, my wife is still beaming, even though we could only place the order for the custom-made earrings at that point.

And I have to tell you what happened after I went to sleep that night. (Don’t worry. I won’t offend anyone’s sensibilities!)

Some two and a half hours after falling asleep that night after that visit to the jeweler that afternoon, I awoke with what must have been ten to twenty ideas to serve my customers better and attract more abundance into my life.

Joe, these inspirations were coming to me so quickly that I could not keep up. But I did manage to get out of bed and start work for about an hour on a couple of them.

So you can bet that I will be re-listening to the section of The Abundance Paradigm in which you discuss how to pay attention to inspired ideas and then the importance of taking inspired action!

        Health/Love/Happiness,
        Kirk

    Hi Joe –

I wanted to let you know that I ordered the Nightengale version of The Abundance Paradigm today. I am looking forward to getting the program.

I’ve had a very interesting day spending money on myself. I bought a new coat in a style I wanted for a long time and thought I couldn’t afford. I’ve also bought a new dress and some accessories for a medieval club I belong too. And several books. I haven’t had this much money to spend on myself in a long time. Just being able to do some shopping and not feeling guilty about it is a real treat.

I think all the clearing work I’ve been doing is beginning to really help. It’s been about 6 months since I started working with the Zero Limits book.

    Have a good one Joe!

I´d love to take advantage of The Abundance Paradigma, but I bump into the problems of language. So I asked you is there any possibility of ever coming manifest in other languages such as portuguese?

    Hi Joe.
I want to share this anecdot with you. I live in Venezuela and I have seen your teachings in The Secret. I have seen that movie a lot of times and I have to say you are my favorite speaker, you look authentic and sincere.
One day I was in a bookstore and I see your book “El poder de la atracción” ( spanish for The Money atractor I guess). I checked the price of the book and it seemed to me a little overpriced (almost US$40 in venezuelan currency exchange). Books in Venezuela are expensive. I flipped the pages and it seemed to me very interesting. However, I decided not to buy the book due to the price. I left the bookstore and I went home. I am self-employed and I have a retail website where sales vary day to day. When I got home I realized that one of my customers have made a payment for exactly the price of the book for an order placed long time ago. It seemed to me a coincidence and I ignored.
Two weeks later I was in the bookstore in front of your book again. In spite of the price, I decided to buy it this time, and guess what: when I arrived home I have received again another payment for that exact amount, between another payments. What it really called my attention was HOW exact were the amounts. So, I don’t know how you do it but you do it. Let’s say that the Universe provide money to your potential customers, so they don’t have excuse to not to buy your products.
However, I have a question. In the case of the book I had the money to purchase it, but, let’s suppose I feel atracted to a house of US$1,000,000. I like it, I love it, and I want to buy it, but I don’t have the money to purchase it, not even for a down payment.
¿How can I do prosperous purchasing if I don’t have the money?
I have faith on the fact that once I make the purchase, money will come, but how can I do that first step if I don’t have the money to buy it?
    ¿Any suggestion?

    Thanks in advance.

    Alfonso.

    Dear Joe,

Love it, and acted fast enough to order Abundance Paradigm program within the first 500.

It seems though I paid triple price due to a technical problem that your support could not solve for 5 days, and no reply from them for 4 days.

Could you help me in that? Support request ID is #79.

My intention was to spend part of the discount you gave on Move the Mountains donation. Now it is blocked. Hope it will be solved soon.

    Thanks in advance.

    Yours
    Attila

PS: Happy to help with the Hungarian edition, BTW.

Hey Joe, I love all your programs, but it would be great if you would release a downloadable version of the abundance paradigm, since that would make it a bit more easier to access, and not have to wait for shipping.

    • November 18, 2010 at 10:44 am

I agree, but it’s up to my publisher, not me.

  13. November 18, 2010 at 3:43 pm

Oh this is so good and timely. There’s a similar purchase I’ve been mulling over for a couple of weeks now. And I think the difficult thing, at least for me in this instance, is that it’s purely for personal reasons. Like a luxury watch, I couldn’t go and say hey the family will benefit too; it’s undoubtedly for me alone, for reasons important mostly to me. And it’s taken me some time to go through all the reasons I had no ideas existed.. to break through that ceiling. This blog post I think helps me push through it, so tomorrow I’m going shopping again. 🙂 Thanks Joe!

    Hi Mr. Fire,

My wife is reading The Attractor Factor, and it picked my interest, so yesterday I read some pages, and I’m glad because the pages I read delivered a message I needed to learn.

So here I am, learning more about your work, and I’m fascinated by this story. I have a couple of questions do, if you don’t mind.

In the book I mention, you tell the story of a car you bought having no money to pay for it. You went to the dealership anyway and got it, then the money came. Alfonso’s post above reminds me of that, but you answer “If you don’t have the money, don’t buy it”, what’s up with that?

I think I do understand why the disparity, but I was hoping you could explain a bit more.

In the watch story, you received a large check after you bought the watch. I don’t think you’re saying you wouldn’t have received the check if you haven’t purchased the watch, as that would be silly, right? I think you’re saying you receive all kinds of signals and “rewards” because of how you live your life in general, not that you’re rewarded for specific things you do. Is that right? Could you elaborate a bit?

Thanks for your work, I now look forward to reading more of your posts.

I can’t with any ethics or integrity advise someone to buy something when they don’t have the money.

I know you must be very busy, but I was expecting a bit longer reply 😀

And I wasn’t implying other people should rely on anyone but themselves to make those kinds of decisions, mind you. I just wanted to know a bit more.

But thanks for replying anyway, it’s great one can get in touch with you.

    Hi Joe,

I love the idea of prosperous purchasing. A few higher priced items are always more enjoyable than lots of cheap junk.

I have been building a nice watch collection in recent years, many over $10,000 and thought that I had a real prosperity mindset. Then I went to Harrods in London and tried on watches that cost over $300,000 and there were even some up to $900,000. This really pushed up all of my lack programming. It was great because it took me to a whole new level of ideas on how to get these items and feel great about them.

Knightsbridge in London has to be the one of the most prosperous places on earth. Go there any time of the day and within 30 mins you will see at least 30 cars all worth over $250,000 and several over $1m. Bugatti Veryons and Rolls Royces are common over there.
