A few people have asked me what I mean by the Divine or Universe. I’ve talked about this in my books and audio programs, but since it keeps coming up, I’ll also address it here. I’ll use one person’s recent questions as the kick-off, and I’ll end with a surprise gift for you. Here goes:
1- Is the “Universe” the same as the “Divine”?
For me, yes. Many self help authors say “Universe” when they really mean unconscious mind. I remember being on one radio talk show when the host declared the universe doesn’t know the difference between imagination and reality. She meant the unconscious mind doesn’t know the difference. This is a common mistake. It leads to a lot of confusion. For me, the unconscious mind is below your conscious awareness but basically runs the ship. It doesn’t know the difference between what you dream about or what you actually see, and because of that, you can embed intentions in it. The Universe, however, is the totality of everything. It ain’t dumb. It knows the difference between imagery and reality. It can also be called the Divine.
2- Do you consider the Universe or Divine to be God?
Yes. I don’t say the word “God” too much because so many people have baggage associated with it. God can be seen as an old man in the sky to some sort of other conceptualized being. God isn’t that to me. It is the background Witness of life. I say Divine to be politically safe. I started using the term a lot more after hanging around Dr. Hew Len, who addresses the Divine all the time when doing ho’oponopono.
3- If we are Divine, as you’ve said, then are people God?
Yes, but don’t tell anybody. People are Divinity expressed in physical form. I talk about this at length in my program (now also a book), The Awakening Course. We don’t know we are Divine because we are supposed to awaken to that fact. That’s the purpose of life. But as Bill Murray said in the movie, Groundhog Day, “I’m not the God. I’m a God.”
4- Exactly how does the Divine attract money?
It doesn’t. You do. But you do it best when you are in your passion, when you are connected to the Divine flow of life and you don’t have any internal limits on receiving it. Said another way, money is Divine and the Divine is money. It doesn’t need to attract money. It is money (as well as everything else).
5- If YOU, Joe, write a book while connected to your Divine/Universe/God within, does my Divine/Universe within instantly know this and make ME more likely to buy it from you?
Not exactly. I believe the book I coauthored with Dr. Hew Len, Zero Limits, was Divinely guided. I wrote it in two weeks. I felt like a stenographer for the Divine. But that doesn’t mean it’s for everyone. Your inner Divinity will tell you what’s next for you. It may or may not be anything I write. (It may not even be a book.) There are hundreds of thousands of books out there, and many of them might be a better match for you at this time in your evolution. I like what Jerry and Esther Hicks (Abraham) have said: they offer their material to those who are wanting it. Period. Look at it this way: the Divine guides me to write a book and the right people are guided to read it. Nothing more. Nothing less.
At the risk of sounding promotional, most of the questions I get are answered in my books and audio programs. I know at least one author who refuses to answer questions at all, saying “Go buy my books!” I won’t go that far or be that harsh, but I have to at least suggest you look into my latest program, The Abundance Paradigm.

I love your openness. I have a question.
This question comes from Stage 3.
How can I clean with the Divine?
This past year, I have experienced many people around me, getting very ill and dying, or getting ill and the illness becomes permanent, or getting ill and extreme operations resulting.
I have been using Ho’oponopono and the whiteboard meditation and EFT and now the Abundance Paradigm Clearing Processes including the Furba process to clear myself. I feel personal Peace and relief with all the processes I use, still nothing has transformed in my outer experience yet (aside from death/operations)
I do these processes and meditations to embody love in the world, and that works, yet you say, “Once you get the lesson, you no longer need the experience.” and Dr. Hew Len says, “Whenever something is wrong, you are there.”
What is the lesson?
If I had to guess what the lesson is, I would say that my lesson is to see “What Is” as perfect, and to love “What Is” as best I can through cleaning with the Divine.

Is my feeling of Love and Peace and Well Being helping these people in their troubled times (because I am a Positive Loving Influence — I see that I AM) or is my inability to clear and clean the cause of their troubled times? (this latter part is a victim idea)
I rarely focus upon the negative aspects of these situations. When I notice “What Is”, I quickly focus on my clearing or on the well being that is Divinely Present.
I am asking for Awareness in this situation. I hope you can give me a new perspective (AH-HA) on my Responsibility and forward movement from here.
I understand that I am cleaning the programing that is present in me and in all my ancestors. I keep cleaning with faith that all is well even in the face of “What Is”.

Hi Barry. I’ve met you and know you to be a beautiful soul with a loving heart who is inspiring everyone around you. What I notice from your comment (which is all I have to go on here) is you might still need to clean on doubt. You aren’t causing anyone to get ill or to heal. The whole cleaning is for you. Since what I hear is doubt, that’s what I believe the lesson is, and what you would focus on to clean. Beyond that, it’s total trust. You are doing wonderful work, dear friend.

I love that you point out that we ARE the Divine. That came to me years ago, and I questioned my Priest at the time and he said yes that is exactly what people are put on earth to find out for themselves. You don’t often hear somebody who will say that out loud for the world to hear. I admire that you will say it , now those who might have considered the possibility may be less afraid to embrace it. We are one in God, the Universe, the Divine.

Thanks for answering my questions about the Divine and Universe!
Your most salient point: “The Divine guides me to write a book and the right people are guided to read it. Nothing more. Nothing less.”
What you don’t mention is how the law of attraction works with the Divine to attract money from others.
I thought that spiritual techniques like “The Secret” and your “The Abundance Paradigm” attract by remote control, like a “Universal Salesman”, so to speak.
In your answer quoted above, you make it seem that the Divine just “guides” a buyer and seller to meet up.
“Guide” seems like a watered down version of “attract”.
“Attract” connotes power, action, force.
“Guide” suggests gentle coaxing, a “maybe” instead of a “Yes!”
After all, it’s the “law of attraction”, not the “law of guiding”.
In the nondual perspective, that you uphold, we are all connected at the Source-our inner Divine/Universe.
Isn’t the whole purpose of “The Secret” and your programs to broadcast throughout the Universe what we want-let’s say, customers- and attract other people to buy our goods and services?
Isn’t this what “attracting abundance” is all about?
You quote the Hicks as saying that they merely put out their material to those who want it. That’s definitely NOT what “The Secret” says, nor is that what you said in “The Secret” DVD.
The REAL question is: How do people know what they want?
That’s where the Divine and the law of attraction come in.
The Divine attracts people to want what we’re promoting-ebook, service, etc.
In videos and ebooks, you’ve always claimed that when I use the appropriate spiritual techniques, the Universe will work as my salesman and publicist for whatever it is that I’m selling.
Once I put out my product, and connect my intentions with the Divine, the Universal Salesman will go door to door selling my stuff to everyone else in the Universe, attracting them to want I’m selling.
Joe, for the last 10 years, you’ve proudly displayed your rich cars, house, guitars, rare books and magic tricks, rich watches, trips…everything that makes up the good life.
You did all this to make a point: We ALL can achieve what you’ve achieved, IF-and it’s a big “if”-we follow the Divine/Universe and its law of attraction.
In other words, if we know the “Secret” of how to send out the Universal Salesman on a sales call for our stuff.
You bought your good life with other people’s money.
You provided your customers with value-starting with “Hypnotic Writing” up to your latest, “The Abundance Paradigm”. In return they made you wealthy.
Why are your customers attracted to what you sell?
Because as you’ve mentioned many times, you align yourself with the Divine/ Universe who “guides” others to your goods & services.
But is this the complete explanation?
Just why DO your customers find what you’re selling so darn attractive?
Isn’t the real answer because the Universal Salesman paid them a sales call?

Hi Katie. I love how you’re reflecting deeply on all of this. The short answer is to keep in mind my thoughts and spirituality have evolved over the years. I consider The Secret and LOA to be limited and from Stage Two of Awakening. It’s powerful to work with the Law of Attraction, but that’s only stage two. I’m less interested in the Divine selling anything for me and more interested in merging with the Divine. As for why my customers find my stuff so attractive, you’d really have to ask them, not me. I’m not trying to be brief, but I honestly can’t speak for them. I hope this offers some light. Again, thank you.

Question 4: In India, we always treat money as Divine. For, Hindus have always considered money as goddess Lakshmi.
I liked your answer to question 5. When I go to a book shop I am always led to a particular book, and then I buy it. And yes, that book invariably gives me knowledge I am looking far.

What’s happened to you? These last blogs and comments don’t sound like the old fire & brimstone Joe I know and love.
I followed you for years. You used to tell us the Universe was like a big store where we could get whatever we wanted.
Now you say that the Secret and the law of attraction is only half the story.
All I know is years ago, I was lost. Then I believed in the Universe, thought positive, and gave 10% to charity. And my life changed for the better. A few years ago I bought the Secret DVD with you on it. With your Rolls Royce. And I thought, Joe is the man.

I now have a nice Ebay biz, work 6 hours a day whenever I want, and make good money. Not your kind of good, but good enough to support my one main passion: Dating women half or more than half my age. Each young woman costs me about 18 grand in gifts- fancy dinners, best wine, luxury trips, DVD’s and books about The Secret and your stuff, one Ladies Rolex Diamond Super Presidents, and assorted Tiffany jewelry (my jeweler knows me and gives me 15% off. I tell him all about the LOA. His wife hates me, though, LOL, because I always come in with a different pretty young girl). I average two 20-somethings a year, for the last 6 years! I fall in love too, and they dig my stories about the law of attraction. Sure it does not last, but no love relationship does. Nothing beats the love of a young woman, even if for only 3 months. Every man in the world buys the love of his woman. The Universe gives me the power to enjoy this love however fleeting, but also gives me the joy of knowing that when one young love moves on, another will take her place.
This is MY “Abundance Paradigm”: a Universe filled with abundant young women who love expensive gifts, who hopefully might transfer this love to me.
The LOA never fails to deliver on attracting money to buy the love of attractive young women. Never!
So I start to worry when I hear you talking like you did above,
“I’m less interested in the Divine selling anything for me and more interested in merging with the Divine. ”
That’s not the Joe I know and love!
The Joe I know explained in “Hypnotic Writing” how to get inside people’s subconscious and COMMAND them to buy your stuff.
The Joe I know told me that the Universe was one big Mall and everything in it is for the asking.
The Joe I know would not be wishy-washy about what the Universe can do. I have your videos and YouTube interviews, and you don’t hesitate to tell us that with the LOA, we can get rich and find beautiful women.
Finally, the Joe I know and love would never have answered Question #5 the way you did, so timid, so circumspect, so new-age like.
Joe, the “new you” sounds like you’re doing your bucket list and making amends.

PS Joe, here’s how I know how right you are about the Law of Attraction, Sadly, on Thanksgiving I broke up with my 28 year old girlfriend of 5 months, just after I gave her a Rolex Super Presidents, 6500 after discount. I loved her and wished her well. My gifts to her were like gifts to the Universe, which promptly rewarded me! I went back on the market in a few online matchmaking sites. Met a 26 year old Yoga instructor/grad student, into spiritual stuff, have gone on dates, and now we’re a couple. I’ve got a good rap! One leaves, another arrives. Get this Joe. I’m your age! Just yesterday my new girlfriend and I went to my jeweler friend to pick up a nice necklace bauble-her Christmas gift. He smiled, and his wife frowned. Good to see that everything is back to normal! This already is shaping up to be one memorable holiday season, thanks to the Universe and the law of attraction. Who said that you can’t buy love? Nonsense! The Universe not only encourages me to buy love, it also pays the bill!!

You read my comments. Am I not living pretty close to the “pot of gold” YOU have claimed for 10 years is the just reward of following the Universe’s law of attraction?

The “coins” you say I’m pulling out of the “pot of gold” are the very coins that YOU spoke about in your YouTube video, “You Can Have It All”: Good, easy money, free time, fine women, nice car & home.
Now you tell me these are not the ultimate prize, that I need to go after the whole pot of gold!
Do you mean ALL the gold coins, or the pot itself?
Who but a greedy person wants the whole pot?
Unless, using your imagery, you’ve changed your tune and now are saying that the REAL prize of human evolution-your Stage 4- is NOT what the gold coins can buy-wine, women, and the good life.
Instead, you appear to claim, the REAL prize is the pot itself! The very container that holds ALL the gold coins.
But isn’t the Universe, or as you mention, the Divine, the actual pot of gold, the containment vessel of all that is good?
Yet you’ve said that each of us IS the Universe, or Divine. So you’re saying what people have said for thousands of years: Awakening is knowing that each of is the pot of gold.
So, let me get this straight.
I’m not as evolved as you because ,at Stage 2, I’m just “pulling coins out of the pot of gold”. I’m just nickel & diming the Universal pot of gold.
Instead, I should go after Stage 3, and presumably, Stage 4, the whole shebang, whole enchilada.
However, we ARE the Universe. We ARE the pot of gold.

Aren’t you going to pull out the gold coins one by one and buy your good life, just like me?
Or, are you now content to just sit back and contemplate your pot of gold, filled to the brim with gold coins? In other words, merge your consciousness with the pot of gold?
Seems to me, the real awakening isn’t being one with “actual pot of gold”. Rather, it’s what you buy with your Universal Gold Coins that counts…Conscious Shopping.
You sound like Neo (well pretty aged version of him) that realizes he can move faster than bullets. You know, when you REALLY get whats going on, you’ll never need to escape from the bullets.
But I think you don’t have connection with divine. You just established a system to sell stuff online and pay young ladies to date with you (some ladies doing that as profession you know…)

Hi Joe, I could really use your help. Recently I have been reading your spiritual marketing and I am drawn to the part someone had owed you money and Jonathan told you to write a letter to that person.
There is someone who lives 3000 miles away from me that not only owes me over $40,000 but has a diamond ring of mine (worth $5500.)
I have tried and tried to get my money back from her and there is always an excuse. I also tried writing her a letter 6 weeks ago and had no reply.
This woman has told me several times she would send it back to me, but since August I have not been able to reach her by phone.
I can’t even explain how mad I am, how hurt I am. I trusted this woman.
Everyday i think of this. Everyday, I have the same angry feeling. I don’t know how to let it go. How to recoupe this loss. I am having alot of difficulty thinking abundunce, when I feel like everyday is a struggle. I am a single mom, raising 2 girls (10 and 2), trying my best to keep my home and provide my girls a good life.
I though for sure I would hear from this woman after I wrote to her. I have heard nothing.
I don’t know how to let this go. Please give me some guidance.

Hi Shari. This is an important issue and I’m not sure I can resolve it here. In short, I know how difficult this is but you’ll need to forgive and forget. The energy you’re feeling is part of what is keeping the situation alive. As soon as you can let it go, the outer will change, too. I know this sounds simple but not easy. I’ve helped numerous people who later betrayed me, and I had to heal myself by letting go. When I did, abundance came from other people and other directions. For your own sanity, you need to let go. There may be some things for you to do yet, maybe with an attorney or healer, but you’ll have clarity about what to do when you let go. Also, when you write a letter to that person, get everything out of your system but don’t mail it. It’s for you alone. I’m sending you good thoughts and healing vibes.

I truly feel stupid that I even trusted this lady. My family reminds me of it. This has cost me alot. 3 yrs ago I had to file bankruptcy over this. Something I worked so hard to build the last 19 years.
I don’t have the money for an attorney or a healer. And even if I did, I am skeptical of who to trust. My parents always told me I have bad judgment when it comes to friends, boyfriends, etc.
