A woman sitting beside me on a flight recognized me from my Law of Attraction books and movie appearances and said, “Joe, I keep trying to use that stuff to win the lotto but it just isn’t happening.”

I figured we were seated together for a reason, and took this as my opportunity to offer some help.

“You know why you haven’t won the lotto?” I asked.

“I need to buy the winning ticket?”

“Well, there’s that,” I said. “But most people are insisting that the money they want come in one way: from the lottery.”

“Yea, that’s me,” she said.

“If you don’t mind my being blunt, that’s small thinking and closed minded thinking, ” I explained. “The Universe is bigger and smarter and far more resourceful than that. You don’t need to win the lottery to get the money you want. You need to be open to it coming to you in any number of other ways.”

She seemed to reflect on what I said.  She commented, “I never thought of it that way.”

“You don’t really want to win the lottery,” I said. “What you really want is the money. The lotto is just one way it might come to you. Focus on what you want, not on how you will attract it.”

She really seemed to enjoy this discussion, so I proceeded.

“And if you want to go deeper into this, you don’t really even want the money,” I said.

That startled her.

“I don’t?”

“No, you want what the money will get you.  The money is a means to an end. What you really need to do is focus on what you want, not on the money. The money is a tool or a vehicle. It’s just one way you can have what you really want.”

I paused as she reflected on what I just said.

When I spoke at the Hay House event in Austin recently, I told the 2,000 people in attendance that as soon as they appreciated where they were and what they had in life right now, the faster they could speed up their ability to attract what they wanted.

In other words, it’s the underlying sense of urgency that keeps most of what you want away. The signal you are sending out is one of desperation or demand, which the Universe will respond to by matching.

Do you really want more desperation, demand, impatience or dissatisfaction?

I doubt it.

As I explained to the woman on the plane, most people are insisting that things happen a certain way, not realizing that that approach is based on what the ego considers possible. Yet the “Universe of all possibilities” can surprise you by bringing you what you want in a fresh way.

So declare what you really want, appreciate what you already have, be looking for the opportunities, and take action when you see them

That’s where miracles begin.

And it just might include winning the lottery — or something even better.

Ao Akua,

Joe

    Joe,

Could you please demonstrate the power of the law of attraction by ‘attracting’ hair back onto your head? I take it you also ‘attracted’ baldness in the first place, otherwise it would have never happened to you, right? A good article topic would be explaining that to us, your faithful readers.

    • April 2, 2013 at 11:17 am

Bob, my “faithful readers” already know the answer. But in the off chance your question is sincere, I’ll give you a short reply. Baldness is not bad. Many people shave their heads to be bald. Many bald actors are considered sexy. I like it and don’t mind it. If I wanted to “attract” hair, I’d do a Google search for it and follow what I found. Years ago a company approached me, saying they discovered a cure for baldness and wanted me to use it and be their spokesperson. I passed. In short, you have to want something to attract it. And then when you “attract” it, it will be through available means, not some sort of hocus pocus. Hope you become a “faithful reader” one day. Many blessings.

Hi Joe. I appreciate that the nature of the original comment came across as somewhat cynical but I am curious about something you said in your response. You said that when something is attracted it comes through available means and not some sort of hocus pocus. It sounds to me like you’re dismissing outcomes that arise from thin air (so to speak) and that only already established outcomes or possibilities are valid. I would be quite surprised if my interpretation is correct because it seems to discount spontaneous healing and other “miracles”, and also appears to embrace a materialist point of view, and both of these are contrary to what you seem to advocate. I believe that it’s perfectly possible for someone to bring about a full head of hair through nothing more than their focused desire. Do you doubt this?

        • April 5, 2013 at 2:18 pm

          That’s entirely possible.

            April 14, 2013 at 8:58 pm

Joe, why don’t you grow hair back on your head and shave it off later, to show it can be done. Also, in your picture you have hair on the sides, so I’m not buying what you are saying about it.

You say it can be done through available means, not by hocus pocus. Yet don’t you also claim the law of attraction will work 100% of the time? Sorry but googling it and finding a way to do something is not the same thing as attracting it Joe. I suppose then if I wanted to attract a new car I’d start by googling it? I thought you were supposed to look things up in the universal catalogue Joe.

          • April 15, 2013 at 11:30 am

Let’s see…You want me to do something I don’t want to do in order to prove something you don’t actually believe….Gee, I think I’ll pass. 🙂

            April 15, 2013 at 8:56 pm

So you wouldn’t take that challenge just to prove it?

You may be comfortable with baldness, but that doesn’t mean you prefer it to a full head of hair either.

        April 16, 2013 at 11:33 am

Interesting. In the lotto article above, you say focus on what you want and not on how you’ll attract it. Yet here, you say you’d do a google search and follow what you found. I find this to be a contradiction, because googling it and following what you find appears to be focusing more on how you will attract it.

If I want to win the lotto, there’s no google search that can provide information about how to do so, other than buying more tickets to increase the statistical chance of winning. Yet when it comes to hair, why should attracting it be any different?

        • April 18, 2013 at 5:37 am

“Yet here, you say you’d do a google search and follow what you found. I find this to be a contradiction, because googling it and following what you find appears to be focusing more on how you will attract it.”

No, that means Google is a great search engine.

Kerem, Joe says attracting hair would be done by available means, not some sort of hocus pocus.

Now, let’s look at Joe’s “Attract a New Car” site, shall we?

Joe says you can attract a new car – or anything else – using his “new secret magic formula”. And, you’ll get to read a rare book on how to “command” the universe to give you what you want.

Does that sound like hocus pocus to you? Does to me.

Then, if you look at some of the “proof” Joe provides, one person received his car for his “help over the years”.

Or the Anita Law story – her ex owed her money for child support, and finally paid up.

Well, what if you don’t have someone you helped over the years, or have an ex that owes you child support, or some other already-existing situation like that?

Oh and, the power of a yellow stickie note?

Advisors told Joe he should sell it for $997, and Joe was tempted to price it at $395. But he wants to help you, so he’s pricing it at $19.95 – at least for today.

$19.95 and you can have anything you want. Sounds like a great deal to me 🙂

          • April 21, 2013 at 6:30 am

Pretty funny. You might want to actually look at the product, and not just the sales letter for the product. It’s easy to jump to erroneous conclusions without the actual facts.

    • April 18, 2013 at 5:49 am

What’s wrong with being bald, loosing hair? Why not someone can love him/herself as they are? As the infinite intelligence designed them?

I literally cried when I was in highschool and start loosing hair. I was in the middle of a class and playing with my hair. Because of the stress I’ve been going through those years I think, a big bunch of my hair easily came out from my head. I was sitting there with my hair in my hand.

A few years later I started to shave my hair, after high school I started to grow beard. When people who lost my track after highschool found me on Facebook they were in shock because the kid is gone… “Cool” kids of the past writing me to say how cool I turned out.

Yes for some reason the higher intelligence designed me that way. Yes I lost hair, but grew a nice looking beard. And just because of this change, many girls who are not looking at me twice started to interest in me, and dated with me.

I believe God never takes anything away before giving you something more profitable.

Saying someone to “grow your hair back” is the same saying to God “you are stupid, you don’t know anything”

Work on yourself to love yourself. When you love and accept yourself unconditionally as you already are, you maybe realize that Joe Vitale’s hair is not an issue for you anymore.

      • April 18, 2013 at 7:43 am

        Well said. 🙂

      • SJ-Reply
        April 21, 2013 at 5:53 am

        LOL.

No one said there’s anything “wrong” with it. But given a choice, most men would rather have hair.

Telling someone to grow their hair back is not the same thing as saying God is stupid. What does that have to do with God? Joe said he believed it was possible to do so, by your logic then is he also saying God is stupid? Wow.

It’s not about loving yourself either. You and Joe both know growing your hair back wouldn’t work, so you try to dodge the issue and talk about loving yourself unconditionally etc.

By your logic, I guess someone who is overweight shouldn’t try to lose weight, ,or try to improve their appearance. And, you admit yourself that “because of this change”, girls started looking at you and going out with you. So if a guy would look better with hair, and let’s be honest, a lot of guys would, you are saying they shouldn’t try to change, that it would be akin saying to God that he’s stupid?

Accepting yourself unconditionally doesn’t mean you don’t try to change anything.

And, Joe’s hair is not an issue for me, and it’s not about loving myself either. Not sure why you are bringing muddying the discussion, if only to divert attention away from the point at hand.

        • April 21, 2013 at 6:32 am

Totally agree with this line: “Accepting yourself unconditionally doesn’t mean you don’t try to change anything.”

    Joe,

With respect to manifesting, whether it be lottery winnings or something else, what is your recommendation when it comes to the frequency of visualization and / or mental focus? In other words, let’s say it is my desire to have more money (and it is). Shall I visualize and mentally focus upon myself having more money one time only and then give it over to the universe — or ‘let it go’ if one prefers to describe it in this way — or shall I spend some time every day visualizing and mentally focusing upon this desired outcome until it comes to pass? And if it is the latter, how often shall I do this visualization and mental focus? Fifteen minutes per day? An hour? As much as possible? I don’t believe I’ve ever heard any manifestation teacher address the issue of just how often one should visualize and mentally focus upon a desired outcome. Thanks.

      Joe,

I was hoping you’d answer my question. I’ll simplify it if that makes responding easier: Do you believe visualizing a desired outcome (you refer to this as Nevilizing in your book Attract Money Now) should be an ongoing practice — every day — until the desire comes to pass, or something to be done only once and then released to the universe? If you do believe it should be ongoing, do you have any guidelines for how often one should practice desire visualization? Thank you.

That seems to be a pretty vague answer to me, and I’m not sure why OP accepted such an answer after requesting clear guidelines.

If it’s fun once, and not again, you only have to practice once.

If it’s fun every day, you can practice every day. But, if you can get the result after practicing just once, why would you continue, even if it is fun? There are more efficient uses of your time.

    To all the doubters,
I have attracted many things out of the blue, with no action, in ways that many would consider magical. LOA does work! We have thousand of thoughts every day, and most of them are very repetitive. Thus, it takes major DEDICATION to change ones inner being, and thus what one attracts.

Even many LOA “experts” back down under the pressure and say: “It only works if you take action.” WRONG! This is just a belief that needs to be released. And yes, action does have it’s place, but it is not a requirement for manifestation nearly as often as people think. it only appears that way because we have been taught that is how life works, and believed it. I call BULLSHIT!

I want to leave all you doubters with two things:

“All you need is LOVE.” John Lennon
Saint James tells us, “EVERY good gift comes from above(LOVE).” Get yourself into a state of Unconditional Love, and watch the blessings unfold. LOVE makes all things possible and clears all contradicting beliefs etc.

    Remember, DEDICATION!

    Luke: …I don’t believe it.
Yoda: That is why you failed.

Hello. I like what Abraham teaches us via Esther and I look forward to learning more so that I can have better clarity and understanding about the Laws of Attraction. About winning the lotto I now know its not about luck, chances or odds its about allowing it to come. In other words, ‘if your expectation was in a place where. U would allow it then that could be a way for $$$ to come to you’! As stated by Abraham. So Joe what would you say the best way to allow something to come? Do u just feel good about whatever it is u want when thinking of it???

Hi. I am a big fan of what Abraham teaches threw Esther and recently read something about winning the lotto and it said, ”If your expectation was in a place where u would allow it then that could be a way for $$ to come to you”. To me from what I’ve learned on how to allow is to feel good about what u want when u think about it. Do u agree Joe? And also Abraham noted to imagine what you want and put together the vision of it happening and ponder that thought intill it manifest. So why would u say not to think about winning if that’s what a person wants because u have to give thought to something and a lot of thought before it happens?? I actually pondered and visioned myself winning and gave my sole attention to winning and only winning, releasing anything negative and I WON and am now working on my 3rd win! And I wouldn’t call myself close minded because I want to make a living off the lotto at this moment this is what I choose and for u Joe to say that to the lady on the plane seems to be judging her rather than teaching her how to win and Abraham never judge! Whatever u want Abraham teaches how to get it now try to stray u to choose something else or another way to create $$$!

  29. Falema-Reply
    May 23, 2013 at 6:54 am

At the end of my 2nd comment I meant to say NOT rather than NOW. ON THE FACT ABRAHAM WOULDN’T STRAY U TO CHOOSE DIFFERENT FROM WHAT U DESIRE OR STRAY YOU TO THINK ABOUT WAYS TO MAKE $$ that isn’t ur desire like u told the lady on the plane who wanted to win! Her desire was to win and you told her she should be trying to attract $ from other ways also! I disagree because if that’s what she want at the time then that’s what she want and is allowed to have what she want! Most likely she hasn’t won cause she may be thinking of the lack of winning instead of winning. And even when u say I haven’t won yet, that’s thinking of the lack!

It was entitled “The Secret” and what it was actually about was never a secret. Rhonda Bryne just never read a BIBLE. It’s all there and it’s been there available for everyone since the beginning of time. She just took advantage of a great marketing plan and world wide access thru the internet. Good Timing yes. Brilliant, but Bad TITLE.
And now, I hear you speaking of FAITH. your new book, you’re going in the right direction. But getting back to the Thank You, thats’ it… It just takes FAITH it has always been about FAITH, and BELIEVING. WE CAN (all of us) do be and have ALL THINGS, like it says in the BIBLE, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD.

Im sure I have seen you somewhere, hmm probably T.V. , well anyway, this story really hits me bc I have really wanted to win the lottery as well, I also realize is not for the money, bt what the money will get me, I have focused on this thought for about a month now, every day thinking tomorrow will be it. I must be doing something wrong. I do start to feel desperate at some points in time and I think trying to get rid of that is the most difficult part. believing without doubt is a difficult thing to do, and no one else can truly help me except for myself. Stuck in a rut and could use some advice. thank you.

I realize this article is a couple months old now. I am writing to give you an example of how everything comes when we are ready for it. This article presented itself to me at the exact moment I needed it. I recently purchased my first home, which I brought into my life through the techniques I learned from various sources you are familiar with. During the move I had days where my financial well being was making me very nervous and stressed. To make a long story short, upon balancing my check book I discovered how bad it was. I cried for a few minutes then pulled myself together. Realizing that I start a new job next week due to my burning desire for aquiring it. I saw myself signing my paycheck, working at this job. I felt it with every ounce of me. But for many of us the lack of “money” creates a hurdle. After reading this article many things became clear and slapped me in the face. I must do for my account/bills what I did to get my house and my job. Thank you for all that you do. Thank you for all that you offer. I ask one thing, if I may, can you please clean/clear on this for me as well? I greatly appreciate it.

    Sincerely,
    Frieda

Hi Joe, I loved reading your article and believe I was meant to come across it. Not only for the great tips on maximizing your odds of winning the lottery but also, somewhat randomly (or perhaps not?), the discussion on baldness and the potential to regrow hair. Joe, while I fully accept your assertion that you prefer to be bald and you feel more attractive for it (I too actually find men very little hair more sexy than their hirsute-scalped counterparts), I am a woman who is still young (36) yet has had alopecia for almost 20 years and no treatment has ever been successful at giving me a full head of hair once again. I’d be most appreciative if you could give me sound advice on how best to utilise the LOA in order to grow my hair back. Many thanks

Bev, set an intention and then follow the leads that you attract. There are plenty of grow hair back remedies out there.

    Dr. Joe Vitale

I just watched the secret and part of a seminar from Mr. Proctor. I understand greatly that the secret is about asking, being grateful, believing, and receiving.
I would like to be your biggest success story. Currently, I am 32, I have a broken ankle (9 screws and a plate), I work at a gas station making 9.00 dollarrs per hour, my wife lost her job as a waitress. We have about a combined debt of 30k (mostly student loans and medical debt) we have about 500 dollars in our checking account and that’s it.
Somehow, the universe drew me here in a quest of asking. I am very grateful that I am comfortable and that we are still keeping our heads above water. I have a college degree in accounting and that’s it. I have very little work experience and I have been fired from any real job that has gave me a sizable income. I lack lots of faith in my skills as an accountant. I work at the gas station because it is job security and its easy.
My main question is I don’t know what to ask for other than money. I would love to ask for $150,000 by Jan 1, 2014. (but seriously, I am a clerk at a gas station that’s like 17k per year!!!!) How do I tell the universe, god, the unifying force (as star wars puts it) to give me a direction. Money would be a good start but I know it is what money can give me (security, abundance, a free life that we all want and deserve). I wish I had a direction. A plan. A calling. At this point I wouldn’t mind being forced to be something. Well for now, I am asking for $150,000. I have no idea on how to acquire it. But I will buy at least 2 lotto tickets per week to at least keep some channels of receiving open.
The LOA is brand new concept for me to grasp because of my limiting beliefs but religion calls LOA faith so I will keep the faith brother. God Bless.

Hi Joe, I serendipitously stumbled upon your website and truly Believe I will win lotto as I had a dream 15 years ago that I did with a syndicate in a certain town, so since last year the thought had re-emerged after I gave this homeless guy some money outside this lottery shop, and felt compelled to enter the store and join this syndicate. It is happening soon. It feels real and tangible. Love your valuable insights into law of attraction. Carls

What if winning, the actual act of winning, is what you want? To climb that mountain just to say you did it… Do you think you have be unbelievably specific or is it just getting into the flow of life/winning?

I won the lottery twice using the Law of Attraction. I wrote about it in my book titled “Manifest Your Millions: A Lottery Winner Shares his Law of Attraction Secrets”. You can find it on Amazon.

What if you want to win the lottery just for the sake of winning the lottery? That’s not the “how”.

    • December 14, 2013 at 6:40 am

That’s self-deception. Wanting to win the lotto “for the sake of winning” isn’t a deep reason or a core motivator. Why do you REALLY want to win it? Honesty will lead to your authentic desires.

I thought that we need to be specific with the universe about what we want? If there are no limits and nothing is impossible, why can’t we manifest winning the lottery directly in a certain amount of time? I’m not doubting your words, just playing devils advocate:) Of course we need to state what we will do with the money and how we will feel as if it’s already happening. Charlie won the golden ticket because he wanted it more than anyone else 🙂

    Thank you for your time!

    • December 17, 2013 at 1:14 pm

Tony, if you don’t mind my saying so, you seem to have a beginner’s understanding of Law of Attraction. I suggest you read some of my books, such as Miracles Manual or Attract Money Now or even Abundance Manifesto. (All are free). Of course, if you want to win the lotto, I say go buy a ticket. 🙂

I just got Joe Vitale’s PDF “Attract Money Now” and I must say. it’s a holistic must read! Together with Rhonda Byne’s “The Power”, I am beginning to appreciate my life and the world around me. AMN also explains why Law of attraction doesn’t work in some people.

    Dear Joe,

I’ve just finished a book based on Hermetics which I haven’t published yet. It took me three years writing it because I consider it as the best transformative experience of my life.. And you know, deep changes take a long time..

I have already chosen it’s name and it’s going to be called “Brincando Charcos”, which can be translated into English something like “Stomping through puddles”.

This idea came to me while I was listening to a song called “Hoppipolla” by Sigur Ros (Which also means “Stomping through puddles” in Icelandic) and I started to think about the paradoxes of life.

In Spanish, the title can have two meanings… One is related to the profound state of happiness generated when we play in the rain like children: “Stomping through puddles and enjoying life”. The other meaning is a little bit more serious and is related to the fact that we all want to avoid suffering and other tribulations of life, “jumping over the puddles to avoid getting wet and dirty”. As you may know, both ideas can be true.. it all depends on our perception.. it’s in our minds.

Well, this is the way my book has been written… trying to see the two aspects of reality but, at the same time, trying not to leave the down-to-earth perception that we all need, the common sense.

Nevertheless and despite the fact that this idea is crucial in my book (so that nobody gets lost), I try to make the reader not to forget the magic behind our thoughts (and the laws behind them)… I do it in such a way that by end of the book you will end up thinking that anything is possible.

Here I send you the introduction, maybe someone else can translate it for you hehe:

No importa quien seas…

No importa quien seas…

The book touches on so many aspects that I think latinamerican people may feel related to. Some friends have read the draft version of the book and they told me they found it engaging since the very begining.. Even my father who writes poetry and has published many books thinks that it’s well-written and interesting…

Joe.. I really want to make a difference in someone else’s life, and since I think anything is possible and I wish I could be the new latinamerican image for the whole Law of Attraction thing and I guess we could be partners in this. Think about it, we could help lots of people that may not have had access to the products and services you offer.

I’ve kown many people that watched the Secret but everytime I talk to them about you they don’t seem to have a clue. I really want to get in contact with you personally so we can talk and generate new ideas and opportunities for this..

Here is my email so we can stay in contact: [email protected]

    Sincerely.

P.D. related to the this particular topic about winning the lotery… I forgot to tell you that the book includes a great story based on how I won a soccer ball in a raffle when I was a child. Of course I’ve won many other things since then but this example is so clear and precise that I think it can help others to deal with the contradictions of trying to attract something very especific.. but the most important thing… this story is so surprising (and my parents can tell anyone about it) that it leaves no space for coincidences.

    With love, Ivan.

A mathematician once told me that with most lotteries, esp. the big “powerball” multistate lotteries, your odds of winning were better by not playing. He went on to say one was more likely to FIND a winning ticket someone discarded by mistake, and win, instead of actually buying one.

The only time I ever won anything was when on a whim I bought a $1 scratch ticket with some pocket change. I won $2. I went back in the store, got my dollar back and got another dollar ticket, figuring that the entertainment value of getting the 2nd one was worth it, and hey, I got my dollar back.

I scratched it off and won ANOTHER $2. Now I should have stopped here, but I figured I’d go back ,get a dollar, and get another dollar ticket. I did, and somehow got ANOTHER $2 ticket.

At this point not only had I got my original dollar back, but I was ahead, and the entertainment value was pretty much done, since I realized there was no way in heck I was going to keep winning so I kept the money and went home.

Other than that, I don’t see how playing all these lotteries really works out for anyone. Even a slot machine pays better on average (but still has the advantage)
