Recently, when the Mega Millions lotto was up to a staggering hundreds of millions of dollars, I sent this email to a handful of friends –

“The lottery is at over half a billion dollars. If you won it, what would you do differently?”

Two of my friends took the question for what it was: a prosperity exercise designed to reveal your true desires.

With Daniel Barrett

With Daniel Barrett

Daniel Barrett, my music producer and my coauthor of the forthcoming book, The Remembering Process, listed well over a dozen ways he would spend, give, or invest the money.

It was pretty impressive, and got me thinking about my own list.

With Lori Anderson

With Lori Anderson

Lori Anderson, another dear friend who supports me in all my endeavors, author of the new book, Divorce with Grace, listed her number one desire: to have her own television talk show.

She, also, got me thinking.

Their serious answers made me reflect on how I would act if I won the Mega Millions lotto, too.

What would I do differently?

Or what else would I do, with hundreds of millions of dollars to spare?

So I made my own list, which was eye-opening. (Apparently there are more music albums and more books in me.)

What about you?

Making a list of what you would do with that much money can be revealing, but it’s only the first step.

Note: Many people claim to have a system to help you win the lottery. Here’s one I have heard of (but not tried): http://outrageous.hooke1.hop.clickbank.net

The second part of the exercise is to ask yourself what you can do right now, even if baby steps, to move toward creating your desires.

It’s not about the lotto. Virtually everyone dreams of winning it, but almost none are prepared for it. You have to grow into handling that much more money. For many, it is too much, too soon.

But you can use the prosperity exercise of pretending you won to –

  • Reveal your true calling, life mission, or heart’s desire.
  • Reveal what actions you can take right now, in whatever small way you can, without more money.

Again, most people need to grow into having more money.

I’ve landed some pretty big publishing, speaking, and consulting deals. But had that money come when I was homeless or in poverty, or still struggling on a limited income, I would not have been able to handle the wealth.

I had to dissolve inner limiting beliefs about money, success, self-worth, and more to allow more money to come into my life.

This is why so many lotto winners lose their money. They aren’t ready for it.

Again, I invite you to use the fantasy of the lotto win to reveal your true desires, and then to nudge you to look in the mirror and ask what you can do right now to make your dreams come true.

And don’t deceive yourself into thinking you would just blow the money on cars and furs and travel and such. You can play with the kid’s view of money — “I’d buy a house full of candy!” – but you want to go deeper.

After you buy the new cars and the big houses and the world cruises and all the toys, wine and cheese that you want; and after you pay off all your debt and give money to family and friends and causes you believe in; what would you then do?

This is what “The Lottery Secret” is all about.

Face it —

You don’t need more money.

You need clarity and action.

Clarity.

Action.

That’s it!

With those, the money (or whatever may actually help you achieve your desire) will show up.

But you have to start the ball moving with clarity and action.

And you can begin right now by playing “The Lottery Secret” prosperity game.

So here’s the question again…

“The lottery is at over half a billion dollars. If you won it, what would you do differently?”

Well?

If I won that lottery, I would do the same thing I’m doing in these days, which is studying music production and write songs, and invest way more time and money into it, without having to worry about whether it’ll bring me more money or not.

Aaaand yes, it’s something I can do even if I don’t win the lottery, I guess!

    • December 21, 2013 at 6:21 pm

Hi Alex. Excellent that you are on the right path. The purpose of the exercise is to dig even deeper. You’d have millions of dollars. What else would you do?

  2. December 21, 2013 at 5:55 pm

With more money I pay off all the balances owing on my credit cards, my husband David’s credit cards, my son CJ’s credit cards. Then I pay off the mortgage on our townhouse. Next find plans for a beautiful house and build and furnish the house of my dreams for my husband and I. pay off all owning balances on my husbands student loans and car loan. Buy a brand new car for me, my husband, my son, and my daughter, my sister Angela, my sister Teresa, and my brother Jon. Sign over the townhouse we own to my son CJ and buy my daughter a place of her own too. Then I buy a place for my mom so she doesn’t have to work 3 jobs at 65 years old. Then I invite my family to come on an all expense paid trip to Portugal for 1 month to honour my Father who was born in Portugal and just recently passed away. I buy a beautiful house right near the beach in Portugal and travel there at least once a year with family and friends. I buy a place in California and travel there at least once a year with family and friends. Travel to Greece, and Italy with my family and of course we have to travel to Australia and see the birth place of my husband. I throw out all of our old ripped, torn, and worn out clothes and shoes and only wear the very best clothes for me and my family. I pay the tuition for my son’s and daughter’s university and or college education of their choice or fund a business venture for them. Definitely invest some of the money wisely with trusted financial persons to make it grow. Never worry about not having money ever again!! Then I start a fund for women who need assistance in moving forward in life and a growing fund for people who want to go to school. There are many, many, many things I can and will do with the lottery winnings, but first and foremost would be to thank God for the blessing and for God to help me to stay safe and secure forever making wise decisions all the time.

Lisa, I support you in this intention.

      • December 22, 2013 at 8:25 am

It seems you pay off money for the people who should learn not to get in to debt in the first place. I feel we must be responsible with having lots of money and pray to give to the right ones. Perhaps this believe stops me from winning lottery however I don’t think paying off other’s debts is a good use of lottery money. Worry about not having money will put you back into poverty even if you win the lottery. So work on your mindset .. is something I would do now.

So, after I receive my lottery winnings, I’d clear my debt and my entire family’s debt. I would take vacations, splurge on my hearts desires, and have unlimited fun. Then, I would open up non profit training centers for new and older ultrasound techs. These centers would train, provide resources to passing state board exams, find jobs, and help pay off student loans for any ultrasound tech. After this I would start a nation wide program, call it the war on molestation to where there’s prevention, shelter, resources for all, and a trillion dollar staff that goes after, arrests, and prosecutes all knoen and unkniwn sex offenders, molesters, rapists, etc.

    • December 22, 2013 at 11:59 am

I would buy all the finest cars, houses and clothes then I would build up a success school that would empower the youths and make them realize their desires. I would fly from one country, empowering their youths and contributing my funds to the youths and charities there. I would go and meet mentor on success coaches and develop my personality more thus making me to be more refined in speech, self-image and self confidence. I wanna grow to the extent that I can contribute to my nation’s economy by building up more success schools that would further make the youths and people believe in theirselves and make them realize that they are in the world of abundance and if such miracle can happen to me, it can happen to them..I just said the summary of my life… EMPOWERING PEOPLE.. Nothing looks like fulfillment to me and I smell this desire in my fulfillment. Very Good Post Mr. Joe and besides I am a Nigerian. Thank You.

N.B: JOE, YOU ARE ONE OF MY MENTORS(SUCCESS COACHES) I PRAY TO SHAKE YOUR HAND ONE DAY AND I WOULD COME AND SEE IF I HAD THAT TYPE OF MONEY AND I WOULD PERSONALLY BRING YOU TO NIGERIA TO COME HELP THE YOUTHS REALIZE THEIR DESIRES AND I REALLY MEAN IT.

i will build a private school and partner up with Mindvalley to offer the kind of education that students really need.
I will be an ambassador of education to different countries primarily the Philippines where I am from and sharing everything I can to better people’s lives
I will have a one on one coaching session with Adam Mortimer who has been a major part of my life and he does not even know me
i will meet Joe Vitale in person and treat him to a nice Filipino meal. I might have to fly him to the Philippines
I am partnering with my company Le-Vel to start it in the Philippines and other Southeast Asian Nations
I am definitely donating to the charities that I can only give a little now: St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, One Community Church, March of Dimes, Veterans, USO, and Xprize.
I am giving back to the food pantry that helped me out when my husband lost his job located in Dallas Georgia
I am donating a big sum to the Cobb County School District to provide more grants that will provide assistance to the Special Education students and IB students at Campbell High School
I will set up a foundation for teachers who are entrepreneurial and would like to start their business
I will hire yoga instructors and personal coaches to provide it for free to individuals who are so willing to make a change but cannot afford it.
I will call the two consultants from Prosper who helped me out and give them both a brand new car. Cameron and Matthew.

Currently, I mostly blind partner and I of 18 years are barely making it in our house. We are currently 2 months behind in mortgage owe over $34,000 in credit card debt used to invest in Real Estate Education and have yet to make a deal (this is 2 years now).

So, if I won the lottery I would pay all my creditors including the house. We would get audio responsive software for my partner’s computer, get him up level teeth (they all feel out over the years), get me a 2014 hybrid Fiat 500 (totaled my truck in January 2013 and never replaced it). We would fix up our house inside and outside, tear down the garage and rebuild a 2 story, using the first floor for my laboratory and study, and rent out the 2nd floor. We would begin setting up living trusts for each, get married. Set money into trust accounts for non-profit land trusts and work with them to assist in purchasing land to protect wildlife. I will continue to work in Real Estate where I purchase non-performing notes then work with homeowners and help them stay in their homes, if they want to. I also will set up a foundation to educate heart survivors how to eat correctly so that they and their family’s never have to go through another open heart surgery. My love and passion is butterflies and insects so I want to travel around the world when I want and photograph butterflies and other insects and teach people the importance insects are in our lives. Studies and models have shown that if mankind destroyed every insect in the world man would begin to die within 60 days. I also want to continue my research on the relationship insects and our chakras have in common.

My basset hound could use his chi — getting heavy — making bathing him an impossibility. If the van was going to the dump, he fairly flew into the passenger seat! Well, as you say, after paying off all debt, buying the big house, new horse trailer, new Jeep Wrangler, new truck to pull the new horse trailer, I would have the freedom to travel wherever I want whenever I want to study with the horse masters of the world. First trip would be to Denmark, then, who knows. At the same time I’m doing all this “horsin’ around”, I would be helping any and all no-kill shelters/rescues for abused/abandoned/neglected animals that I can. They all survive on donations, and I would have plenty to share. When I’m not traveling and playing with horses, I would have time to volunteer and help out at some of these shelters also. They have my whole-hearted support for what they do, and I would love to be able to do more to help out. I don’t yet know what other passions I have within me, and I would love to be able to investigate all the possibilities.

I would use the money to buy things that are going to make me happy for a long time. Buying a house would mean feeling secure for the rest of my life. A house to make into a home, to do things I want to do, to have pets if I choose. Renting is very limiting and I never feel comfortable in a rental, mostly because the of the lack of security (never knowing if the owner wants to sell or move into the house etc). I would buy a new car so I didn’t have to worry too much about breaking down and not being able to afford repairs. I have a disabled child and both of the above would help enormously. I would buy new clothes. They don’t have to be fancy or expensive, just enough not to look like a bag lady. Be able to have hairdos and hair colouring when I need it, not when I can afford it. I would like to help those of my children who are really suffering because of lack of money (caused by other people). Be able to buy decent gifts as opposed to a “token” gift on special occasions. Be able to give more to charities and help friends in need from time to time. I would love new furniture, especially a lounge suite and television, both of which I haven’t had for many years.

As soon as I read this blog post the first thing I thought was… I need to clean on this!
And for those that don’t know what cleaning is, I would review Zero Limits with additional research. It’s quite the read.

After cleaning….cleaning….cleaning…..and still cleaning, I’ve finally found some insights I would love to share.

I’ve always known what I’ve been inspired to do, among many things. Yet, I lacked the patience, belief/faith, motivation, and confidence to follow through. A jumbo mix of fear of success and fear of money has me in a state of beginning amazing projects geared for success, and inspired by the Divine, only to stop from inner frustration or perfectionism.

Trust me when I say that the Divine is often frustrated with my shenanigans!

Yet, when I read this question, I was blank. I felt frustrated that what I thought I would do for years if I won the proverbial jackpot was something I really wouldn’t do. So I cleaned.

Firstly, I realized that I essentially lack confidence and the strength of radical faith. The confidence has been a lifelong journey in my young years and the faith is a matter of exercise. So quite amazingly, the Divine/myself attracted a therapy mp3 courtesy of Joe. It gave me the best sleep I’ve had in months.

Secondly, I realized that I was meant to do MORE than one passion and purpose and while all made up who I am, NONE need to strictly define me. I’m me with many passions.

Thirdly, I realized that I cannot worry or consume myself in the perfection for monetary gain. Nothing is perfect except in its imperfection. And when I removed this caveat and burdened memory, I began to see joy and happiness in my passions.

And then I entered the Void. So many new and old ideas from inspiration came flooding to me that I became quite at peace. As Joe points out, it is a personal journey to emotional and monetary success rather than a large leap. For there are lessons to be learned along every step that are unique to each individual.

If I had the winning ticket and all of my material desires were brought into fruition, I would pursue my creative talents for the pure joy of doing them. Without the pressure for being successful or gaining income, I would do it out of love of creation.

And that is why I needed to clean. I still have cleaning to do but I thank you for sharing and putting me back on the right path.

    And
    I love you.

Sure I would buy me a place to live, but it has to be big and way out in the country, because I want to turn it into a cat heaven farm.
I am extremely passionate about cats and I want to create a place for them where they can just be cats, hunt, eat, play, sleep and above all feel safe and loved. I do not wish to bother anyone else, that is why I will need some big area around it, some forest, some land, all what their little hearts could desire.
I would also like to take healing courses so that I could do the healing for them, although I always think that they are the ones that are doing the healing.
I would love to do some coaching education as well and invite people to my cat heaven farm to be coached and or healed with the help of the cats, because I also do care a lot about people.
Of course they would have to love cats as well, as they will be all over.
I think that your miracle coaching course is a wonderful one and as soon as I can I will take that course so that I can start coaching other people. I have a feeling that the cat heaven farm will manifest as well in the future, even without me winning the lottery.
Nice exercise though, it got me thinking about a few things, which are a lot clearer now. Thanks for posting and for being so generous to your subscribers.

As for material things, I enjoy them, but everyone has some work to do, what would we do here on earth if not working? And creating through work? Creating help, joy, peace, fun, order, healing, love, things we need. This times teach us about balance. Life should be balanced. Its not here all about grabbing, we dont need too many things, they can stole our attention from hearing the whispering of true call of our soul..and act according to it, to fullfil our given potencial. That is getting rid of all the excess fat on my body because it stores what I believe are potentially destructive toxins, which influence the brain and our thought process. I would start a program to install alarm systems in battered women’s shelters. Most of these shelters have, at best, a deadbolt on the front door, and that’s it. The women who are there, escaping from incredibly violent people, do not feel safe in the building. So I would beef up the security on every such shelter in the US.

I would start a program to provide herbal seeds that cure water borne pathogens- there ARE herbs that can cleanse the water before drinking, and also herbs that can heal the body that has been exposed to diseases in bad water. The goal is to put together a kit of seeds that will grow in that area, with a pamphlet in the language of that region (with pictures) that shows how to plant, grow, harvest, preserve the dried plant, save the seeds for future planting, and use the plant to cleans the water/person. These kits would be distributed to a village with an explanation, and the statement that they should share their seeds and knowledge with the next village over for the next 3 years (3 different villages). That way, in a span of years, this would spread and spread to ensure cleaner drinking water worldwide.

I would start a program to pay for the medications of those with mental illness. MANY state and national programs (Medicaid, Medicare) do NOT cover the meds that these people need to function even semi-normally. How can they be expected to think positively and use the LOA to improve their lives when their brain is stuck in nightmare mode? Help get them stable so they can improve their own lives.

I would start a research project to determine the cause of mental illness. Recent research suggests that vitamin/mineral deficiencies in pregnancy and/or the first 3 years of life can lead to mental illness in adulthood, but the *exact* item that causes this is up for debate. So I would have a lab to study this, find the solution, then promote the information- like the March of Dimes.

That’s what I have for starters.

If I win Mega Millions or Power Ball Lotto in millions, I would do the following:

    1. Buy a House
    2. Invest the money for family’s future
    3. Start my own business
4.With 30% of Lotto winning amount start charity fund (investments) the return on these investments will fund the charity work:
    a) Help children with Learning Disabilities from impoverished
    families
    b) Provide for medicines to elderly poor
    c) Help gifted children from economically weak family in their
    studies
    5. Share Joe’s secret with folks who need it the most (teaching
fishing instead of giving fish for food)

    Dear Joe
Thanks for your fantastic teaching – great stuff!
If I win the lottery I travel to the Philippines to see a spiritual surgeon with my son and maybe follow up with a trip to California to get access to Medical Hemp. On the way we’ll go to Hawaii and Maui, then visit our family and friends in Switzerland for a while before we come back here to Australia. I’ll try to change my visa from full-time student to a more long-term one. Pay school- and study fees, my credit card and other amounts I’ve got from my ex-husband, parents and friends.
Then… I’ll buy a Jeep, probably a Wrangler… and set it up with radio, winch and all you need to travel on tracks to the land of the never, never :-D.
And I’m looking so forward to buy the property I’ve seen two years ago and which is still waiting for me. Create my transformation resort, with healing garden. The biodiversity is amazing. The land grows herbs, organic veggies and fruit, which is the base for happy belly festivals. Along the tracks I want to create space for healing and clarity. There will be a tarot and a color therapy loop. Ho’oponopono and other quantum techniques will be part of the different resting places on the land. A part will be set up to have an afternoon tea surrounded by chooks. They are masters in distraction, by singing and bringing up laughter. As you see, dearest Joe, I could go on forever. I let you know, as soon as it happens, because your teaching is one massive part in my development. In the mean time… much love to you and always all the best in the fabulous 2014.

Great lesson here to experiment on possibilities (and fears of) and forward path to deeds dreamed. Overviewing which (morning wiser than eve) I myself found already some steps not needing those tons of wealth – and (guess what) received an eBook in my interest (energy healing) in Hungarian (today; never meant exists such…)
Thanks, Joe, things might flow like magic! (and: a Happy New Year!)

If I won the lottery…I would pay my tithing at church, buy a house and a lot, pay off my car, secure my 5 childrens future, pay off my school loan, give my husband a share of the money to open his gym and a little extra to do whatever he wants with it, buy my parents a house and 2 cars, and my 7 siblings would also get some money. Lastly, I would Invest whatever money I have and also try and patent my invention idea that I know would be a big hit. And as long as money kerps

I would get my autobiography made into a movie. 🙂

If or when I win the lottery, I will do all the usual, pay off bills, give family members a little security for future with outright purchased house, holidays and all that. I would buy a holiday home in Pasadena ( one of my favourite place) and I will look forward to wonderful times there with my lovely husband Terry.
Then down to serious business, I would put a vast amount into a non profit organisations called withgratitude, and I would run it to make other people’s lives better, it would help homeless people and people who need security and help.
As well as helping the homeless in an effort to get them off the streets, I would try and help people stay in there own home, many people every day are evicted for owing less than £2,000 in rent arears, and there is no where for them to get help, I would help them, once there property secured, I would help them become more financial stable, and help them manage future finances. The possibility to help people is endless. It’s sad that some people can not afford food and a home when the ability to help them is there but seldom acted upon.
And every day I would give thanks to the universe and god, for all the blessings that I have received in my wonderful life.
Great Opportunities to help other’s seldom come around, but small ones are with us everyday.
Happy and Prosperous 2016 everyone x

When I win the lottery, I am going to buy the house off Sand Canyon I have already picked out. Pay off my current home and give it to my daughter. Buy a home for my son and his wife. Pay off our debts and car. Give my car to a needy person and get another one. Give son and daughter money to live on. Make a college fund for my granddaughter. Give money to my church so they can expand which they have wanted to for some time and never had the money to do. Secretly make other people’s dreams come true. Give money to help people in serious need and to help save animals lives. Go on some vacations because I have not been very many places in my lifetime.

In exchange for receiving the 1.3 billion in powerball winnings, less taxes of course,
I vow to help family and friends
Purchase a large piece of land and build a tiny house community for the homeless with a community garden, kitchen and library filled with books, documentaries on the laws of the universe, and such.and help others in my community and the world abroad.
    Be a secret/santa angel
Create a foundation and center for parents and children who are in need of help from child protective services, as 75% of cases are wrongful by cps
Create a positive vibes news blogs that shows the positive stories out there in this world instead of the negative media.
Randomly send little windfalls to people for no reason at all
Travel, flip houses and create dream homes for others!
Enjoy life and be eternally grateful!

What I will do when I win the lottery is pay off all my debts, pay for my kids to go to school so they can do something they love. I will buy them each a house and then I will do what I love which is travel at least twice a year and photograph all the amazing places I have dreamed about. When I’m not traveling I would like to put together a wellness center, based on income so anyone can get services like nutritional counseling, natural medicine, chiropractic, acupuncture, diet, exercise and anything health related. Right now only people with money can get these services and I want to make it available to anyone who wants it. I would get dr’s, chiropractors & etc to donate a day a week to the center and people can volunteer either at the center or at another place to earn the services they may not be able to pay for. This is something I have thought about for years and winning the lottery would make it happen.

I would of course pay all debt off. Invest in property. Pay for college for my kids. Buy a home. Already work with special needs children and would like to continue that by opening up a therapeutic ranch for the kids to come to, at no cost, cause a smile on a child’s face is priceless. I have a few family and friends that I have watched struggle and I’ve done everything in my means to help when can, so I would definitely help take stress from their lives because they deserve it. Then I would keep living my life and keep helping people who help themselves

Hello! I am on this page for the first time. I have read few of Your books and I have to tell You, that you are very inspired person and my favourite writer. 🙂 After these books I changed my way of thinking. THANK YOU FOR THIS! I want to ask about something. Recently I found the purpose of my life. I want to help animals, especially homeless dogs. If I would win the lottery, I could help animals in many ways for sure, not like now. So far I made few things to help them and I want to still do it. How do You think: do I have a chance to win the money to help the animals more? I clearly know, that this is one of my purposes. Additionaly I know, that money are only a kind of paper and they can be instrument to make a great and helpful things. Sorry for mistakes, I’m from Poland 🙂 best wishes to You!

If i could win huge amount of money my First thought which came into my mind was…… I will wake up without any fears in the morning….and next one is more complex, the wonderful world will be much closer to me…because i could see all its beauty in real, not on the pictures, on TV but on my own eyes, I could smell Oceans, Sees, tropical forests etc….not only imagine it…I feel it like I could almost touch the world by my senses 🙂 Money would be very helpful to realize it.
