Heaven on Earth

Martin Rutte opened my eyes.
He was my guest on my TV show last month, talking about his book and how to create “Heaven on Earth.”
I was skeptical.
He mentioned that, “You don’t have to believe it to do it.”
You don’t have to believe it to do it?
That tripped me.
I teach belief.
I preach belief.
Even Napoleon Hill said if you can conceive it, and BELIEVE it, then you can achieve it.
But here’s Martin telling me I don’t need belief.
I asked him to explain.
He asked me this question:
“Haven’t you done something in your life where you said afterwards ‘I can’t believe I did that!?'”
I thought.
I remembered.
I was in training to learn strongman feats of strength.
I didn’t really believe I could bend a nail or steel bar, let alone a horseshoe.
But I stood in front of the class, with a horseshoe in my hand, and I tried to bend it.
A horseshoe is solid metal.
It’s made for a horse, not for a person to bend by hand.
But there I was, trying to bend it.
I was sweating.
My muscles were twitching.
My lungs were gasping for air.
The group yelled and screamed and urged me on.
I didn’t believe it was going to happen.
It didn’t seem possible.
But then the horseshoe started to bend.
The horseshoe almost MELTED in my hands.
It BENT!
I couldn’t believe it.
I still can’t believe it.
But I did it.
And I still have the horseshoe to prove it.
I wrote a book about my experience called “Anything Is Possible.”
I’m on the cover holding a pile of twisted metal – all bent by my hand.
And I started by NOT believing I could do it!
Think about this.
Maybe there’s something in your life you have wanted to attract or achieve, but it keeps eluding you and you don’t believe it’s really going to happen.
I urge you to act in faith anyway.
Act with-out belief.
To rewrite Napoleon Hill, I’d say —
“Don’t believe it and you can achieve it – as long as you take persistent action toward it!”

My Favorite Quote

I love quotes.

A good one liner can awaken you, entertain you, educate you, and more.

One of my recent favorites was written centuries ago.

Seneca (the ancient Stoic who who wrote letters and essays to help us today) left us this juicy tidbit –

“It’s all in your head. You have the power to make things seem hard or easy or even amusing. The choice is yours.”

At first glance you may not grasp the power in his statement.

It’s a reminder that you have a choice about how you see your life.

Whatever you are going through right now can be seen in at least three different ways.

Most of us let the default “It’s hard” run us.

We don’t feel very inspired or empowered with that view.

Life sucks.

But what if you changed it to “It’s easy”?

We can now move to a clearer place, see our options, and maybe even enjoy the process.

Life rocks.

And what about — dare I say it – “It’s amusing”?

Amusing?

What you are going through can be amusing?

Seneca didn’t say it WAS amusing, he said you could make it SEEM amusing.

Big difference.

Again, it’s all about how you choose your perception.
